I just added the first of the PA local histories to the town history
section of my web site. It will ba a long time, if ever that I have
hundreds of them like for NY and Maine but this is a good start. If you
have not visited my web site before you will find over 2,500 pages of
all types, mostely for New England, but I have expanded it into New
York, New Jersey and now Pennsylvania. I hope to be adding other things
for PA later, but that will take a while.
Today I added the following histories

Hello listers - -
I understand there is a place at Valley Forge where one can enter ancestors'
names to determine if the bearer of the name served with General George
Washington during that terrible winter. Apparently this facility is not on line.
Will anyone be going to V F who might look up a couple of names for me?
My patriots are Henry Clevenstine/Clevenson, George Emery/Emmerich, Benjamin
Lascum/Laskum/etc., and his brother Peter, as well as Peter's son John who
lost toes due to frostbite and
I previously asked for assistance on an obit and, naturally, after I sent
an email to the list - I narrowed his death year down a bit more.
According to the permit number for Chester Rural Cemetery,
William H WILLIAMS died between 1916 - 1918.
His profession listed in the 1900 census is Policeman so
he must have been appointed chief after that..I guess.
If he died in 1916, before May, he would have been 67 years old.
Thanks for any direction or help you may be able to provide.
Tina
Dear List - I am trying to find information, specifically an obituary,
on William H WILLIAMS. I know he was Chief of Police for Chester
Police Dept. c. 1905 - 1908. He died before March 1918. This is
mentioned in his brother's obituary (Mar. 1918).
Could someone help me out with guidance or even obtain the
obit for me? I would happily pay you for your efforts.
If anyone else is researching the WILLIAMS family or specifically
William H Williams - I have many old newspaper articles to share

Good morning, Helen:
For those of us who are unfamiliar with them, what information is
provided by the Administrations and Will Index Lists? How is that
information then used? Are any of the Administration or Will files
available online?
I wonder, too, what our immigrant ancestors' thoughts may have been as
they arrived in this land which was new and unknown to them, and what
their impressions may have been during their early years here.

Hello Listers,
I am trying to help a friend trace a possible step-sister. He has tried all he knows, including contacts through the American Embassy in London, but without success.
All info I have:- Appears on 1920 Census for Radnor Township (Middle Precinct), Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Her age was given as 2 2/12 making her year of birth 1917. She was a boarder with Edwin & Edith Robilliard and may have been adopted by them. Understand she died young, within a year or two, and the Robilliards returne
Good morning David & list,
This question was posed & answered the first time I did the Will &
Administration Index List lookups & should be in the archives. I try not
to be redundant but I will post it again. Here is an example of the info:

Many thanks to all who responded to my inquiry, and to those who expressed
interest in this website. My original source of information now tells me that
there is a computer at the visitors' center (museum, etc) where one can enter
the ancestors name and perhaps acquire proof of service there. However, there
is also the notation that the muster roll is very incomplete because of lost
records.
Special thanks to Liz and Deneen, who both supplied the URL above. If you

Good morning lists,
I received this important info this morning & it is very helpful in
saving money & getting photocopies of birth, death certificates &
other records!
Gail is referring to records in NYC area in this case but I'm sure
this method could be used to get records from other places that
charge an arm & leg for these type of records.

Wedding-Smith---Lanning
A very pretty home wedding was witnessed at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Lanning on Wednesday evening, September 6, when Miss Victorine
Lanning and Mr. Gardner Smith were joined in holy wedlock by Rev. Benjamin
La Pish.
The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Mildred Lanning, and the
groom, by his brother, Mr. Layton Smith. A number of the friends of the
contracting parties and members of the two fa
Dear Dori:
If you don't mind waiting a week or two, I will be going over there by
the end of April on business and will have some spare time. Would be happy to
look up your ancestors, as I have used their system too. Several things people
should be aware of, though:
1. The list is very incomplete, not because the NPS has been lazy, but
because the company and regimental records were never "collected" but went home with
the commanding officers. Over the years, in many states more than a century,
FYI:
I found an old church history on ebay that has names/dates that are in the
book shown on the purchasing page.
They have alot of old books, old photo albums, old family histories in their store.
I orderd 2 so far and they have been a big help in my research.
