1. RE: Photography Studios as Genealogy Source [1]
I have never found a photography studio still in business, let alone with records that far back. However, the name and address of the photography studio can give you clues as to where the subject of the photo lived. Remember on all your photos to write the date and full name of the subjects, lest our descendants tear out their hair like I have done! Anne Broomall Wiegle

15. Photography Studios as Genealogy Source [1]
Just saw mention of something I never thought of as a genealogy source! Photography studios! So many times old photographs are found and no one knows who the person(s) in the photograph are. Often the name, even address, of the studio is on the back of the photograph as well as an ID number. It is often possible to trace the person in the photograph thru the photography studio records. Something to keep in mind while searching and researching. Judy Ardine
16. Re: Photography Studios as Genealogy Source [1]
I have thought of this option too, but where do we find these old records. I have asked on other lists, but no one seemed to know. Any direction you or anyone can give me would be appreciated. 17. Re: Photography Studios as Genealogy Source [1]
Its a matter of finding out if the studio is still in existence. Barring that, a matter of finding out if the photography studio was bought out by another photography studio and then finding if that one is still in existence. At least with dog show photographers, usually when one goes out of business, another dog show photographer takes over the files and films of the one going out of business. That is why when I saw the post on another list it struck home so quickly. If dog show photographer

Sue, The White Horse Tavern in what is now Prospect Park Borough, situate in Ridley Township, was in operation as early as 1733. I will scan the information today -- hopefully that will work, and I won't have to type it; but if it requires typing, no problem. The History of Delaware County was published in the 1880s, so it won't have information on John T. Knight or his successors; but it will have info on the owners between 1733 and 1880. One way or another I should have the info for you by tomorrow. Ple
