Dear Group,
All day today I had an itch to get rid of old stuff that I had stored for years and years and at the top of my list was to burn the large collection of checks that I had been storing away for years.
I figured that since they were VERY old (back into the 1970s) I wouldn't need to keep them any longer for proof that I paid my rent or my mortgage or my taxes that long ago. So I had a nice "bon fire" in my wood burning kitchen stove. Poof! I got rid of stacks of old checks.
At the same time I
Dear Group,
This afternoon I got a call from our historical society museum urging me to come up and pick up the stack of veteran questionnaires that have been filled out and returned by our local veterans. I figured that there would be three or four of them but I went and picked them up anyway.
When I counted them, I was amazed that there were about 40 of them! Now that might not sound like a lot to you but it sure was for me!
You see, it's been less than 2 weeks ago that the article was in the local p
Dear Group,
Some of you have let me know that you appreciate that every family has a soap opera in their family history. And some of you have teased me for more details about my personal soap opera. And oh the stories I could tell you! :-)
But in thinking back over my life and my life stories and finding myself getting older and older, I may have had many fantacies in my mind as to what I want to still happen to me but there was never the fantacy that I wanted to be appointed as the Town of Porter Histo

Dear Group,
I've just sat myself down and I'm pooped from wrapping Christmas presents. Every year I keep forgetting what a job it is. And this year I couldn't even find the name tags to put on the gifts.
So at the last minute I'll have to go to the store tomorrow and buy what I forgot to buy. Oranges and nuts for the stockings and name tags for the presents.
Tomorrow night my sister Norma and my niece Deb will come over and help decorate my tree. I called Norma this evening and asked her if she eve

Good Morning Group,
I just had to jump in on this discussion, although at this point in time we
do not have a dog or cat, just all the birds at our feeders and the fish in
our pond.
However, our grandchildren (teenagers) got a 7 week old puppy just yesterday.
It is a Shih tzu and they named her Angel (since we are in the holiday
season). She is mostly white with some apricot markings, just a beautiful
puppy.
Holiday greeting to all,

Dear Group,
I know that it's after midnight and that it's now December 8, but I just couldn't go to bed this evening without calling attention to December 7, 1941, and the attack on Pearl Harbor.
I was only 10 years old at the time but I remember that Sunday afternoon vividly. As a result I started to write a book based on my childhood memories during the World War II years in Niagara Falls, NY. I got through only about five chapters when I realized that I couldn't do justice to the whole story and so I
Dear Group,
Today I received a message from a girl whose grandmother was the sister of my Uncle Maurice Yetter's second wife Catherine and she asked me the location of the Yetter graves in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Cumberland Co. I responded and told her where I had found the graves. (Uncle Maurice Yetter married my mother's sister Ruth DeWees).
But included in my response I let her know that I remembered Uncle Maurice very well and that he and my Aunt Ruth had lived on Myers Street in Steelton, Dauphin Co

so that is probably why he went by Bud. I have no idea of his ancestry,

This past weekend I was able to locate the family of my great-grandfather in the 1881 English Census. For those who do not know, the 1881 English Census is online at www.familysearch.org I found my great grandfather, his wife and two of their earliest children. I love the British addresses. They were at Third Crt. George St. 2 House. And one block over from where my ggrandfather lived when he married was his father and mother. I found out the birthplace of my great-grandmother and the birthplaces of m
I have sat and pondered this for quite awhile, not knowing whether to post to the PADutch list or not since I'm not sure if our line of Edens really comes from Pennsylvania or not (and not wanting to be soundly kicked off the list). However, my husband's grandfather always said that the line was of Pennsylvania Dutch descent.
Anyway to make a long story even longer----my husband's 2nd great grandpa was Samuel Mitchell Edens, born June 20, 1839/40 "somewhere in Virginia/West Virginia". He was married on D

Lets see what was I doing in the 50's well I became the first WAVE

Hi all, I had a cat named Ralph. Ralph liked to roam around outside on warm summer nights, (or possibly terrorize the other neighbors cats!) When he wanted
to come back in the house, he didn't use the conventional method of coming back
into the house through the doors, he would jump up on the brick ledge at the
window & stare at us until we would open the window to let him in.
