The Pennsylvania Room at the Uniontown Library had them for sale. These we
reprints of the original book which is sold for abt. $60.00 (it sounds
steep, but a torn original costs abt. $150.00 if you can find one). Try
your local book store, they may be able to order it.
Good luck, Greg

I tried the ten day free subscription to the Ancestry site mentioned in

One of the fascinating items was a free map (including Fayette area)

Laurie,
My husband's grandfather was also employed in the mines in Uniontown. I'm
looking for similar info. I do know that the Penn State Fayette Campus is
working on a project, "Patch/Work Voices - Coal & Coke Heritage Project".
From them, I received a map of Oliver's Mine which is where my worker worked.
You might want to contact them and see what info they can give you:

In tracking the location of individuals between censuses, I have found tax
lists/records to be very helpful. Specifically I am currently trying to
locate individuals between the 1810 and 1820 censuses in Allegheny and Fayette
Counties of PA. So far I have found many tax records for most townships in
Fayette Co. but hardly any for Allegheny Co. in this time span. Do these
exist? And where would I find them? Would appreciate any help on this.

Hi Gang,
I just wanted to remind everyone, who might be going on vacation for
awhile over the holidays, to unsubscribe from the list in order to avoid
overfilling your mail boxes. If you want to make sure that you don't
miss anything on the list while you are away on vacation, just subscribe
to the digest version temporarily, which should put only about one
message in your box per day(after you have unsubscribed from the regular

Hi Joe; Confluence is on the East side of the Yough River in Somerset Co. I
belive if you lived 500 feet across the rive in Fayette Co. you would still
say your location is Confluence. The other question about Wharton Twp. It
was one of the orininal Twps. Founded in 1783, Henry Clay Twp. was formed
in 1824 from Wharton Twp. This could explain some pre 1824 documents
