5. Re: [PAFAY] Johnson researchers. [1]
Hi Kim, We've got more Johnsons than we know what to do with - I'm trying to limit it to German twp, since most went to the Mennonite church near Masontown. But I'll keep your Saltlick and Springfield Johnson close at hand in case I find something for you. The biggest problem is they all had the same first name. . . Peter, Nicholas, David..... but then you've been there, right? There are a number of Johnson's in the Vance Funeral records in Springhill/Georges twp that haven't been linked yet either. This

9. Re: [PAFAY] Riffle's & account book [1]
Robert, I am enjoying turning on this computer every morning. everyday a new find. First, I have Marion recorded as son of Daniel(David) not Morris, I am getting sloppy. Where can I find the 1872 map? Is it on line? I have the 1865 landowner map of Fayette Co drawn by O M Hopkins and I had the townships enlarged so I could read the names without the use of a magnifier. Just found one Riffle an initial J. Your account book is a treasure. It seems as if my families of Norman, Hostetter, Black, Longane

11. Re: [PAFAY] Family Research Information [1]
My two cents worth and I believe , that all the information given thus far is Good advice, but sometimes spectulation really helps arrive at the true facts! An example: back in the early 80's when I was searching for my great grandfather Gillespie's name, all I knew was my Mother said, her Mother would "kidd" my Grandad by calling him "Old Park Gillespie" but in searching the records, (census of 1850 Braxton Co.. WV) I found in the household of a James Gillespie a son, "PARKISON" and the time f
12. Re: [PAFAY] 1850 Census - Fayette County [1]
Carole, I checked my 1850 census index for Fayette Co. and nothing came up on William Simpson. Of course, that doesn't mean he wasn't there. Ancestry sometimes skipped people when reading the census records. Can you give more info about this man -- age, place of birth, township, etc?? Joyce :)

Ellen, Where is it stated that this "aim" is a universal aim of genealogy? Certainly we would all like proof of every birth, death and marriage. But, many of us are researching a geographic area for an era where such proof is not always available. Or, if available, each "proof" would take months of intensive research, building bits and pieces of ci
