1. [PA-LAC] Will index question [1]
Hello out there! I've recently found some family in the will index (thanks a million to whomever took so much time with that!). I was wondering if I could order some of those records from a genealogy society rather than through the county. If so, which one. Thanks so much! Tiffany Mietzner KRETSCH, WEBER
2. Re: [PA-LAC] Re: Tragic news [1]
Dear Patti, I have had messages from my familytreemaker file at times saying the file is damaged but I have never fixed it. I can't find a problem with it. It only happens once in awhile. I do keep a hard copy of everything and print it every couple of months, particularly after a lot of new information is put in. I print a genealogy report for the oldest ancestor of each family group. Is your source information up to date? When you put the new information in you should go sl
3. Re: [PA-LAC] PA Vital New Security Policy [1]
The new regulations are obviously of most benefit to the researcher, and of no additional cost, enacted in the cause of preventing idenity theft, and consequential personal damages, monetarily and otherwise. The services and related costs that the state offers, appear more than fair among other genealogical services offered by others. The limitations of who may obtain the records, as available, certainly pretty well covers most of who might be interested and should be entitled to such information. The pro
4. [PA-LAC] 162 Pike Street - Carbondale [1]
Hello Folks, Would anyone happen to know what type of house/building is now located at the above address? I've just discovered that this address (and an adjacent address: 160 Pike Street) was the location of the home of my gg-grandparents James and Katherine GENNESSY, from at least 1880 though 1910. Is there still a house at this location ..and might it be the same structure as was there in the time frames above? Thanks in advance for any help! 8. RE: [PA-LAC] St. Rose of Lima Cemetery - Carbondale [1]
Hi Ken, Thanks so much for your detailed reply! I recently made a phone call to St Rose of Lima parish and found that they now have a genealogist, Mr. Connor, working for them, and for a very reasonable fee per hour he will research the records there. I'm forgetting the exact dates available for searching but I'm hoping to find at least something on my HOPE and (illusive!) GENNESSY families before I make the trip up to Carbondale in the spring, for the purpose of further research. One of the things

10. [PA-LAC] Re: PALACKAW-D Digest V03 #15 [1]
Hi, all. In the case of getting a birth cert of a relative, one must sumit a copy of a death cert with your ID. If you don't have a death cert because one was never filed, as in my g grandfathers case, you are up a tree! 11. [PA-LAC] Mina Osborn [1]
I am hunting for any information on Peter Osborn b cir 1775-1785, who was in the 1820 & 1830 Census as living in Bridgewater. In 1840 it looks like he might have died and wife Mina is head of household. It is possible that Peter's mother Asenath was living with him in 1820. Much of this is speculation so I would really like to find some collaboration of data for this family. Peter is possibly the son of James and Asenath Osborn. Connie Maguire
12. Re: [PA-LAC] Ship arrival ~ 1885 [1]
Exactly the problem. Try looking for the male children. Those who arrived under the age of 18 would get citizenship with their father; but very often if the father died before getting his papers, they would need to go it on their own. Since you already have an arrival date (and port?), getting the papers probably won't add any new information other than perhaps a birth date. With an arrival date confirmed, you might be able to search passenger ship lists, a very daunting task. New York papers are

Hi Folks, Has anyone information on the state of St. Rose of Lima's cemetery in Carbondale? Are tombstones still standing from the 1800s and early 1900s? - and are there records available for these burials and grave sites? Thought that I'd ask here first, before contacting the Parish. 21. [PA-LAC] HELP WITH DEATH CERTIFICATE [1]
I have a relative who was born some time in 1857 according to census records. I am trying to determine when he died. If I know that he was alive in 1917 but was not alive in 1920 census, can I send for a death certificate for one year at a time. Can I start, for example, with 1918 and send $3.00 and see what comes? It would certainly be cheaper than the 10 year search. I understand it is $25 or $28 for a ten year search. I don't need that. Would appreciate the advice of someone who possibly has d
