If anyone is searching county records and runs across any ADAM, ADAMS, ADDAMS, ADDOMS, ADEM .. would they please either send me where they saw them .. or email me the information. These guys are driving me nuts and the only way I am ever going to sort them all out is try to gather all the AD(d)AM(s) I can find and try to put families together. I would be happy to send what I get to the Historical Society as all I really want is to find where mine fit.
I would really appreciate anything you might find. M
List,
I live in Fredericksburg, VA, Kings Highway going from the Northern Neck of VA...(Westmoreland, King George), through Fredericksburg...which turns into RT 3. Rt 3 continues through the Chancellorville Battle field, Wilderness and through Culpeper. This explains how these people came from Westmoreland through VA and North or South.
Haven't seen the book but seems like a great resource. :)

Hello:
Is there a map somewhere that shows the townships of Lancaster County? I'm
interested in Donegal Township. My ancestor, ALEXANDER McKEE, came to
Donegal Township about 1717 and died there in 1740.
Thank you.

Hi,
I'm trying to locate my ggrandfather Robert Thatcher,
Union Army records show him born abt 1826 Lancaster Co. PA
he came to W. PA and in 1848 married my ggrandmother Magdaline Fried.
We know the rest of the story, but nothing before 1848. We know less
about her, prehaps Swedish ? Old family yarns out of context don't help.
All suggestions welcome!

I think the sale of information on CDs has been pretty questionable from the
beginning. When they first began appearing they included information from
several states often with no connection to each other. The idea was to force
people who wanted to buy lists of Lancaster County Marriages to buy also deeds
from another county, in another state. All in an effort to increase sales. I
don't have a problem with them making money on their products but I think
their ethics are shaky.

Please, is there anyone available to do a look up in the Worner collection for Christina STEERS and or Mary Elizabeth STEERS? I would be so grateful.
Christina died after 1843, Mary Elizabeth died 1858.

Have you looked in Cumberland County where they came from? If they had
lived in Lancaster such a short time, perhaps after her husband died she
moved back "home" where she may have had family and friends.
Just an idea....

Jan:
Do you have any idea when the tombstones listed in the Worner collection
were transcribed? Someone looked up and found a cemetery in my ancestor's
surname in Martha Xakellis' Penn Twp. volume, but there were only three
legible tombstones that could be transcribed. I'm hoping that the Worner
project was done about 100 years before this when more were still legible???
Or is that just hopeful thinking?

The real shame of this, I think, is that is prevents others including the
local historical society members from publishing their own compilations.
Land record indexes will probably never the period from the 1770's to early
1800s because so many people are led to think they have already been put on
a CD. I think this CD should have been labelled "Less than 1% of Land
Records for Lancaster Counties,Pennsylvania, 1682-1769" instead of implying
it is "1682-1825 complete." I don't mind if they want to put wha
Thanks to everyone who answered my query. At least now I know where Donegal

Sorry for those getting this more than once, but I am cross-posting.
There was an old migration trail used by pioneers back in the 17//1800s when
moving from the northeast to the southeast, or vice versa. I had the name
of it and a map of it, but can come up with neither. If anyone has the
name//info//map, would you please send it to me, or send me the URL where I
can find it.
Thanks,
Bill
Thank you for these postings. I just found my MILLER gg-grandparents and my

Thanks, but that is the first place I looked at - I most certainly cannot

The Merkys/Merkeys/Markeys settled in Bethel Township, Berks County, then
Lancaster County. Sandra Kauffman has written a book about this family THE
MERKEY FAMILY OF BETHEL AND TUPLEHOCKEN TOWNSHIPS, 1990. Marcus Markey was
the father, Hans David the older son. There was another son Nicholas who
was under 16 at the time. I don't think that we know where in Europe the
Markeys came from. If you ever find out, let us know.

Hi Joan,
You should be able to copy and paste one page at a time into a word
document. Then use the word document as the attachment. I regularly do
this to copy into my research log. Hope it works.

Good morning listers~
This is the second posting on this. I never saw the first come through.
So, allow me to try again.
My ggreat grandmother was Sarah Ricker Powell. When her husband died in
1869 his will listed Charles Ricker as executor. The only Charles Ricker I
find in the area is from GAP, Lancaster County. Does anyone have info on
the surname?
Also, trying to tie the names Ricker & Bicking. Several of my dad's
brothers have the middle name of Bicking. Since, both names appear to be

Frank,
I don't know whether or not there is published history on Berks County
Kellers. I only know that queries have been posted on PABERKS and the
individuals are not in my Keller History, which is limited to descendants of
Hans Jacob Keller who arrived 1736 on the Princess Augusta. You might want
to check Montgomery's Biographical Annals of Berks County to see if there is
anything on Kellers.
