3. Re: [PALEHIGH-L] 1870 census [1]
Thanks, I think the Moses I am looking for may have lived in Plainfield Twsp. I just found my old records of 1860 census and found a Moses age 64 and a Mary Ann age 35 Living there. If they are the correct family there should be a Sarah age 4 or 5 in the 1870 census. Sorry for the previous confusion on Whitehall, but the Egypt Reformed Church has Gangewere in their records. If I remember correctly it is not far from Egypt Reformed to Plainfield Twsp. Gordon in Virginia Researching; Gerhab, Weaver, Derr,

6. Re: [PALEHIGH-L] Egypt Reformed Church - Derr [1]
Hi Judy, I have just joined this list recently, and this is my first posting. I noticed that you are researching the Derr surname. My Joseph Derr was born in Lehigh Co. in abt 1804, and eventually moved to Luzerne Co. PA, would there be a connection there?? When you mentioned the Church, I thought I may find Derr's there since another German branch of my family are associated with The Stone Arabia Reformed Church. Found the following reference to the church's location on a webpage, and below that i
7. [PALEHIGH-L] Re:Craig-Benner-Boyd [1]
Col. John Craig, (subject) of the Lehigh Valley. The family came from Ireland about the close of the 17 century and settled in Phila. In 1728 Col. Thomas Craig moved to Northampton County and settled in what was afterward known as Craig's or the Irish Settlement. The name of Col. Thomas Craig appears of the Synod of Phila for the first time in 1731, and by it we learn that he occupied the office of Elder. As it was in the year 1731 that the Presbyterian Church was organized in the settlement, it may theref

11. Re: [PALEHIGH-L] DERR (in LEHIGH CO.) [1]
Hi Theda, Thank's so much for your reply. I am looking for JOSEPH DERR born in LEHIGH CO. PA in about 1804, and his ancestors. Two of his son's Biographies give Lehigh Co. PA as their father's birthplace. I don't know what Joseph's parents names were, I only have his birth place to go on. He married LEVINA KREITER from NORTHAMPTON CO. in about 1835, but their first child was born in Luzerne Co. in 1837. He was my GGGGrandfather, I already have researched my Derr line in Luzerne Co. which is what le
12. Re: [PALEHIGH-L] 1816 county map [1]
I believe that I have seen pieces of this map. Is this the same map that comes in 6-8 large pieces, with names of the landowners kept on file? It is a land survey map, taken from earlier surveys dated from approximately 1800-1816. It details land ownership, so one can see where a certain farm was in relation to others. It reads like a who's who of Heidelberg Township. I found it very useful and informative.

A Military Thank You If you are so inclined, visit the Department of Defense web page below and sign a brief message thanking the men and women of the U.S. military services for defending our freedom. The compiled list of names will be sent out to our soldiers at the end of the month. So far, there are only about 5,600,000 people have signed to date. What a shame. There should be hundreds of millions of thank you's. Pass the word that we can honor and support the defenders of freedom during Nationa

19. Re: [PALEHIGH-L] Place to do research [1]
Brenda, The Allentown Public Library also has City Directories to find where your ancestors lived and the Bates books to research Pennsylvania Civil War veterans. There is an old cemetery at 10th and Linden Streets where we found many ancestors. However, on our second trip we found a lot of the stones had been overturned. I don't know who has the records of this cemetery. Rose Roberts ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lea Nissley" To: Sent: Sunday, March
