Am looking for Joseph Hess b. about 1805 in PA. Can anyone help? I know
it's a long shot, but I have to start somewhere. Don'e know parent's names.
Thanks,

I am sending this to each PA mailing list to which I subscribed recently. I
am not receiving posts from the mailing lists and none of my posts I am
submitting are going through right now, although everything was working 24
hours ago. I just tried to access Rootsweb's mailing lists, and I was told
the site was experiencing difficulties, so I could not access the mailing
list web site. I hope my posts and posts other people made eventually get on
the mailing lists....

Sorry Penny, but Pittston is NOT, and as far as I know, has NEVER been called Bethlehem, PA. My grandfathers both worked at Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem and Freemansburg, PA their whole lives, and my relatives are all from that area, as am I. Pittston is Wilkes Barre and Scranton, and has been for a long time from what I know. Bethlehem is much further south, along the Lehigh River in Northampton County. Better get a map and take a peek.

Looking for information on the McCLATCHEYs. I am trying to confirm the
parentage of a Samuel McCLATCHEY, born about 1791 somewhere in Pennsylvania
and died about 1865 in Lee County, Iowa. I believe he is the son of
Charles McCLATCHEY (1769-1839) and the grandson of James McCLATCHEY
(1730-1808) who immigrated to Pennsylvania from Ireland. There are records
of McCLATCHEYS in several Pennsylvania counties: Armstrong, Clarion,
Lancaster, Venango, and Westmoreland. Any information about this family

I have been finding some info on KEIM families coming from or settling in
Pittston, PA. From what I have found, The Bethlehem Steel Corp. was located
there on Keim St. Someone mentioned that this is now known as Bethlehem, PA.
I found the following family listed in the Pittston Gazette:
Mrs Phoebe J. KEIM, abt 32, and widow of the late Jacob KEIM of Ransom Twp
d/Wed, 30 June 1869 at her residence in West Pittstion. She leaves one child
a boy about 8 yrs of age.
Does anyone recognize the family, o

List,
I am attempting to trace the family below to Pennsylvania. I suspect
they are from either Northhampton, Lehigh, or Berks county.
These are the names and ages given in the 1850 U.S. Census for Wisconsin
(Town of Dunn, Dane County):
Charles Hensho, 35
Catherine, 34
Mandus, 12
Theodore, 5
Charles H., 1
All but the last list Pennsylvania as the place of birth. Wisconsin is
listed for the youngest child.
In Theodore's marriage record, his mother's maiden name is listed as
Catherine STUCKER.

Sylvia, I'm researching the Strauss's lineage in the

Why is it that after a while ppl get so greedy that all they can think about

I have subscribed to Ancestry for a few years. I have subscribed on-line, as
well as over the phone and have never been double charged. I can't say it
never happens, but I have never had an issue with it.
Perhaps Ancestry is using a telemarketing service for phone solicitations.
From my experience, outsourced telemarkerters are more interested in
production than genealogy.
I hope ancestry.com is not using questionable tactics. They provide a good
service. It would be a shame to see it deteri

Hi:
I'm hoping someone will be able to offer some help with the following.
I had GGGrandparents named Daniel and Sussanah nee Spangler Hertzel. Daniel
passed away at a young age and is interred in the cemetery at Stone Church in
Kreidersville. DOB 4/41814--DOD 3/21/1847
My problem at this time is getting a lead as to what became of Sussanah from
that time on. I'll list some clues I've managed to research, but still have
no idea of her final resting place.

Hi everyone,
Thanks to all of you who responded to my requests for a test, as I was
wondering why most of my email did not post to Rootsweb within the past 24
hours. Email is now flooding in, and someone emailed me to tell me the server
for Rootsweb was probably down due to people concerned about the Social
Security prices rising from $7.00 to $27 on July 1st. As this person
mentioned in his/her email, this should have been anticipated and dealt with
properly.

I'm new to the Northampton List and seeking information on my ancestor James
Armstrong, b. 1728, died 1800 in Georgia. I don't know for sure that he was
from Northampton County, but in the Revolutionary War he served in the 2nd
Pennsylvania Battalion of Captain Thomas Craig, which was raised principally
in Northampton County.
His service was as follows:
He joined the 2d Pennsylvania Battalion as Regt. Quartermaster, 20
Feb. 1776. He rose through the ranks; 2d Lt.. 21 May 1776, 1st Lt..

and became a citzen in 1760.

Northampton county. Michael may have remained in Philadelphia
