Hi All,
I'm new to this list, so I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!
I started doing online genalogical research about 3 years ago. It has
reaped tremendous rewards and provided a great deal of personal
satisfaction.
My personal genalogical mission is to find my gggggrandmother, Elizabeth
Boone DeFrance's ancestors. I learned very quickly that there are a
whole lot of Elizabeths with the Boone surname! So I modified my
approach.
Elizabeth's brother was Captain Hawkins Boone (12th PA Regiment of t
I didn't find "Historic County Lines" but "Brenda's Guide to Online

Marc,
I wouldn't want to be without my PENNSYLVANIA LINE and its indispensible
information. It has been around for many years in paper-back as a
standard and reliable reference work and is not expensive. I have no
connection whatsoever with the company that produces and sells it.
Here is the address on my 4th Edition (199

Can anyone help me? On page 109 of Floyd's Genealogical and Biographical

I just noticed that the Sunbury Daily Item web site has a reader survey at
http://www.dailyitem.com/survey/. There is a box to check if you would
like to see obituaries included on the site! I imagine that would be a
handy feature for many of us out-of-state genealogists following particular
family names. I know I appeciate seeing the obituaries in the Shamokin
News-Item site, but more of my names are likely to show up in the Daily
Item. Perhaps other PANORTHU-L members may want to cast votes.

I've been reading the many messages from each of the mail-lists for the past
few months. Many ask about where they can find certain books. During the
Genealogical Association for English-Speaking Researchers Annual Conference
I researched and created a "webpage" that you can load onto your hard drive,
add to your "Favorite or Bookmarks" list and use for doing Genealogy
Research. As part of that file I found a number of places on the web to
find Genealogy Books.
Below are the sites I found most useful in
Robert,
I don't know if there is a central address, but there is a Mental Hospital,
Danville, State Hospital, PO Box 700, PA, 17821, 717-275-7011. There was an
rather large Mental Hospital In Philadelphia called Bybury, but it closed a
while ago. The Philadelphia Archives may be able to help you on that one, I
don't know. There is Norristown State Hospital, Pa.; Allentown State
Hospital, PA. There are quite a few large (about 30) Psychiatric Hospitals,
(they are not called institutions anymore).

If you have an Indian in your family this may be the place to look up
thier name and see when they applied for citizenship. Imagine, Indians
having to do that! I had no idea. This is a federal gov. record
site. Gives very limited free info but some anyway. I also found
criminals tried in Fort Smith Arkansas 1850's on up. Kinda interesting.
