Good Morning Anne -- and Other Listmates, I write in response to the message Anne posted earlier today concerning Will Pavey. I'll begin by making a few comments regarding communication procedures. It appears to me that your message was posted only to Rootsweb's Pavey mail list. As I understand "the system," Bobbie (your primary addressee) is not likely to see your message unless she happens to be a subscriber to the Pavey mail list, or is a regular reader of that list's archives. I believe your questi
7. [PAVEY] Henry Horton Pavey [1]
Hello Listmates, In observance of Veterans Day I report the military service of my great-grandfather, Henry Horton Pavey. Henry Horton Pavey enlisted on October 15, 1861 and was discharged on September 5, 1864. He served as Private with Company D, 48th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The battles in which his unit participated include those at Shiloh, Corinth, and Vicksburg. He was wounded by shrapnel during the engagement at Vicksburg. Henry's line of descent from Samuel Pavey is believed to be as
8. Re: [PAVEY] Re: John A. Pavey [1]
Al, I agree with your assessment of John A. Pavey. I previuosly had no dates at all listed for John, Everett and Arhtur. I did a little more digging and found John on the 1910 Cowley County, KS census with new wife Cora. Rilla C. Pavey is on the Shawnee County on the 1910 census and listed as divorced. I could not find John on the 1920 census but Rilla is still in Shawnee County. Nor did I find Rilla on the 1930 census. I also found information that John and Rilla Pavey's daughter Hazel married an
9. [PAVEY] Re: John A. Pavey [1]
Hello Listmates, Earlier today Michael Little posted an excerpt from the 1900 Census for Shawnee Co KS pertaining to a family headed by John A. Pavey. Michael requested help in identifying that family. I believe that the John A. Pavey of Michael's excerpt is the fourth among six listed children in the following passage from Charles Calloway Pavey's book, "The Pavey Family of Ohio -- Vol 1 The Jesse Pavey Branch." "IV. Francis Pavey (Samuel I, Isaac II, Thomas Asbury III) was born October 15, 1835, i

11. [PAVEY] Re: John A. Pavey [1]
Hello Michael and other Listmates having interest in family of John A. Pavey, Thank you for posting the additional information from the 1910 census. I'm also pleased to have your data on John and Rilla's daughter Hazel. In my earlier message (November 08, 2003) I stated that the passage quoted from Charles C. Pavey's book (The Pavey Family of Ohio) was from Vol. 1, The Jesse Pavey Branch. That was only partly correct. The passage is indeed from Vol 1, but that volume treats Isaac (rather than Jesse) Pa
12. [PAVEY] Bernice B. Heasley & Leo Pavey [1]
I recently purchased the 2000 update of "Cemetery Records of Clinton County, Ohio (1798-1999)" published by the Clinton County Genealogical Society. It is a massive work, 3 inches thick and 1325 pages. It was not cheap...$75 plus $7 shipping, but it was well worth the cost. I found a Pavey burial in it that I can't identify: Sabina Cemetery: Bernice B. Pavey D. 2-16-1919, age 23 Yr. Franklin County, OH, Bur. 2-19-1919 Sec 1 Lot 10, husband of Leo Pavey and father William Heasley. In the same secti

John (Jack) Pavey was the son of Isaac Pavey and Elizabeth Acman. He married Elizabeth West and they had 7 children. I assume from the Shroyer in your name that you descend from their daughter Elizabeth, who married Henry Shroyer. I have a lot more information on this line and would be happy to share it with you. 22. Pavey Family of Ohio manuscript [1]
Recently, I have been trying to do some documenting on the earliest Paveys and the information that is in the Pavey Family of Ohio manuscript. I do have some questions that I am in hopes that someone can help me with ... On pg. #5, under "Samuel Pavey" it states that prior to 1790 he went from Caroline Co, MD to Bourbon Co, KY. On pg. 1, under "Jesse Pavey", it states that Jesse and his father, Samuel Pavey, purchased a slave, "Lib" from Curtis JACOBS. The original promissory note was dated June 11, 179

24. Samuel PAVEY II [1]
I am trying to further document and add to the Family Group Sheet for Samuel Pavey II and am in hopes that there is someone who will be able to help me. According to his Rev. War Pension Application (R8019), Samuel Pavey was born in Accomac Co, VA, July, 1761 (as best he could remember.) He entered into the Rev. War in Aug., 1781, while living in Guilford Co, NC. He stated that after the war, he lived in DE, KY and OH before moving to Indiana (abt. 1818.) His request was turned down due to desertion. (
25. Elizabeth Ackman [1]
Al Blackburn asked for my source for the marriage of Jesse Pavey and Elizabeth Ackman. I first found the reference in PERSI and a reference to the "Pavey-Witham Bible Records." I found the information itself in a publication of the California DAR at the Los Angeles Public Library. It was a compilation of mainly bible pages and somew family group sheets. I cannot find where I wrote down the name of the publication, but it would not be too hard to find if someone was really wanting to check it out.
