Carmen, The land document you posted between Eastridge and Elijah Pennington would have to be the middle Elijah born 1820-1822 because his son was only 1 year old (the youngest Elijah) and the William Elijah (Elige) Pennington ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carmen M. Pennington List, My apologies. I accidently sent out a partial message to the group intended for Carmen Johnson, Group Leader of Group 7 regarding a land document. Please disregard. Carolyn Waters
3. Re: [Pennington-L] DNA [1]
Dear Tom, I will reply to you off list with the cost of the test but for those that are interested it can be found at www.penningtonresearch.org under DNA Study. what results are to be > expected from this test? It is possible to find out that you share a common ancestor with a lineage that may stretch back to 1585 in some cases. It does not tell you when or where you connect to that line. DNA tests are very limited in what they can tell you unless they can be correlated with a paper trail

5. [Pennington-L] Andrew, Elizabeth & Ephraim Pennington [1]
I am looking for some additional information on Andrew Pennington who was in Ashe County NC Census page 31A in the 1840 Census, age 20-30, and Ephraim Pennington was on the same page living alone, age 70-80. Andrew is in the Ashe County 1850 Census as age 36, wife Elizabeth age 37, children Mary (14), Levi(13), John(19), Ephraim(9), Martha, and Ephriam age 81 is living with him. I assume Ephraim is Andrew's father. On March 13, 1854 Andrew sold some land on the Little Laurel to Elijah Ephraim Pennington(B

Dear Viola, No it is not too late to enter the DNA Study. This will be an ongoing study into the future. The first phase tried to get sequences from known PRA groups or lineages. Now Any male Pennington (or similar spelling) can enter the study and compare their Y chromosome sequence with that of a known lineage. The only snag is you need to find a male with the surname Pennington who is related to you to take the test. This test only works for males and is based on the fact that most men kee

8. Re: [Pennington-L] Elijah re: C. Waters message of Nov. 1 [1]
Barb, I didn't pursue proving Elige was really William Elijah Pennington because I do not believe that my family decended from Elige or William Elijah Pennington. While searching I found 4 or 5 family trees that referred to Elige as William Elijah. Carmen and I talk frequently and had discussed this, so I referred to him as William Elijah (Elige) to clarify which one I was talking about. I am the great granddaughter of the younger Elijah whom we have been calling Elijah Ambrose Pennington. He was reall

11. [Pennington-L] Appeal to those in our Pennington DNA Study [1]
Below I have copied a letter to me from Bennett Greenspan president of Family Tree DNA. I am asking anyone in the Pennington DNA study who knows EXACTLY how they are related to someone else in our study to contact that person (through your family group leader) and make sure it is OK to share this information, then either send me or preferably FTDNA their simplified pedigree chart see links below. All FTDNA need is boxes connected by lines and the participation number of the people tes

13. Re: [Pennington-L] Andrew, Elizabeth & Ephraim Pennington [1]
Carolyn, gee, why did many brothers name their children the same, i.e. Ephraim...... oh, to sort it all out! I descend from Richard Pennington (c1752) whose father was Ephraim, lived in the same NC area, was REv. soldier, and married the youngest sister of Daniel Boone. I belong to Group 4.... and hopefully, some of the DNA tests will link our groups. What you have sent is informative.....could the Ephraim Pennington, age 70-80 in 1840 (b. c1760 have been a brother to my Richard?? Possibly. Two Ephra

Yes Mike you can sign a release in our study and some already have. However it only really applies to 6 couples in various PRA groups since these are the only ones who actually know who their common ancestor is! All of these have signed releases so they know who they match. Nick. Hi Nick- This sounds like a real nice idea- I would definitely like to share- However- if I remember correctly most of us donated DNA anonymously- therefore as things stand today this would be hard for us to do. Maybe there is a possible way to do it for those of us that want to share- We could send you permission to share our names with the others that are willing to participate. Let us know- Thanks Mike Nicholas Penington wrote: > Below I have copied a letter to me from Bennett Greenspan >pr
16. [Pennington-L] Elijah re: C. Waters message of Nov. 1 [1]
Hi everyone, Carolyn, I was just rereading some of my recent messages and came across yours again, of Nov. 1. Or actually, I found a reply that you had sent to Carmen of Group 7. I hope i have that right. Anyway, you mention a William Elijah (Elige) Pennington and I am curious if you have documentation that his name was indeed, William Elijah. If this is the son of Macajah and Rachel, I have never seen any documents at all on which this first name for Elige was given. Please let me know what the docume
