Hi Lorraine, I have a William CLOW that married a Janet ROBERTSON at Muthill on Sep 23, 1849. Many of this CLOW family are shown as having been born or died in Blackford, so I am assuming it is close to Muthill. (I am still very confused about this parish VS town thing. Why wouldn't a parish be in the same town of it's name?) Do you have any Janet's? Thanks. Kathy Lorraine C Shephard wrote: > > Many thanks for your speedy reply. Dear Listers, I would like to add my tuppence worth to the Robertson enquiries that have been happening recently. I have a Jane (or Jean) Robertson marrying Alexander McLagan in Blairgowrie on 3rd December 1837. I have pored through the Old Parish Register and found the wedding entry, listing no parents, and went further back hoping to find a birth of Jean Robertson, or Jane, but there were too many born about 1820, when I guessed she would have been born. The IGI CD Rom only lists one possibility. I c

18. Re: Please Help-New to Scottish Research [1]
Hello Janet, You won't find many entries in the IGI newer than 1875. In addition most of Perthshire has been omitted from the online version - for some reason noone is quite sure of. Errol is indeed a parish. It sits about half way between Dundee and Perth. Longforgan is closer to Dundee. Civil Registration began in 1855. For obtaining post 1875 certificates you would be best going to the Registrar General in Edinburgh. However if you are going to be researching a lot in this area I would suggest loo

Hi, Kay - I would be interested in having more information on your Archibald Menzies, shepherd, age 70, d 1855 in Parish of Dull. I believe he could be the grandfather of my ggrandfather, John Menzies, b 1830 to Alexr and Christian McNaughton Menzies. If Arch had a son Alex, this would convince me.
