3. Introducing myself [0.982636]
I have been a member of these lists for sometime now, but have stayed in the "lurking" mode to observe the types of traffic. I apologize to others who are members of these lists who will receive multiple copies, but this is the only way I know to gain the coverage I need. I am a Native East Tennessean of Scotch-Irish descent, who recently (approximately 3 years ago) started trying to track down my ancestors. I have been led down the garden path about Dalriada. I have been told our name is really a MacGrego
4. MacArthur Family Tree Project [0.982636]
The MacArthur Family Tree Project was started in November 1997 to collate peoples research. The database was updated in early February 1999, it now contains over 8,200 individuals. To put this in perspective there were about 6,700 M(a)cArthurs in the whole of the UK in 1881. It contains family trees sent in by well over fifty researchers, a few of which overlap. Searchers can directly email the submitter from within the database - the root individual of each tree has as its source an hyperlink to their em

9. McCAUL of Fortingall Parish - Perthshire [0.982636]
Greetings: I have the OPR baptismal record for James McCaul (born July 4, 1806 & baptised August 8, 1806) at Fortingall Parish, County of Perth. The OPR record lists his parents as "Collin McCaul and Catharine Cameron in Western Camgoran" (seems to be spelled "Camghouran" these days). I am searching for any further information (birth, marriage, etc.) on James' parents, Collin McCaul and Catharine Cameron, but can't seem to locate anything. James McCaul and his parents and siblings emmigrated to Canada s
10. Re: Info on 1855 Scottish Marriage Certificate [0.982636]
Mary, If the parents names do not have the words "deceased" after them then you can safely assume they were still alive at the time of the wedding. Sometimes the information is not always accurate but as it is supplied by the bride and groom it should be. Since all of these parents will have death certificates after 1855 you will be able to find their own parents in turn - far better than before 1855 when it is a bit of a lottery. Kind regards from Norval Smith, Canberra . Looking for GELLATLY, FRA

Hi Bonnie, Thanks for the info. As I am new to Scotish research can you tell me if the LDS hold microfiche copies of the OPR's? If not where else can I get hold of them? I do have Peter's death but, unfortunately, he died in London and English certificates don't give the same information as the Scottish ones. 19. RE: Butchart, Kinnear, Robertson [0.982636]
Hello, I have some Butcharts, but not in Forfar. This gets really confusing to me. I have some Lindsays, maybe from New Rattray, Perthshire, and Glendays, maybe from Forfar. Some of them seem to have come to St. Charles, MO, USA, together, 1817, indeed, Peter Glenday was married to Ann Lindsay. I have a letter from Thomas Lindsay to his mother, Hellen Butchart, New Rattray. Peter Glenday returned to New Rattray when his wife died, about 1823. After his death, his daughter, another Hellen, presu

21. RE: Dewar Interest [0.982636]
Heather - joining in ... my DEWAR line is: Malcolm DEWAR m. Ann COMRIE and had 2 children (Ann-1813, Archibald-1816) in Perthshire somewhere before sailing on the Curlew in 1818 from Greenock to Montreal and settling in Beckwith Township in what is now Ontario. There they had 8 more children (William, Alexander, John, Peter, Margaret, Archibald, Duncan, Malcolm). I am descended from Peter. I guess that Malcolm and Ann would have been born somewhere around 1890-93 and likely in the Comrie region of Perth
22. McQUEEN / DUNCAN [0.982636]
John Ward recently mentioned his McQUEEN connections and notes in his signature that he's also researching DUNCAN. I have both names in my family, but they're both from the Midlothian and East Lothian regions, respectively. I'm happy to take this connection off line as we're out of Perthshire. I am researching in Perth, but the names there are BAIN, CAMERON, SCOBIE, MITCHELL, HALLEY and McINTOSH. Fiona Bain in Wellington, New Zealand

Hello, My ancenstor was William WISHART, born 17-Sep-1729 in Thornhill parish. I don't know where this church is located, except that it is within the county of Perthshire Scotland. Listers, I have some new info that may or may not be relevant to my search for Helen LEITCH, dtr of Daniel LEITCH/Tassie THOMSON. I have seen McQUEENs mentioned before, but never paid attention to the names because I didn't have any reason to do so, but now I think I may. Does any one have a connection to one John McQueen/Tassie (Thomasina) LEITCH married 16 May 1836 in Tulliallan? Thomasina is listed as a visitor to my 3x ggm, Helen, in the 1851 census for Tulliallan. She is listed as being 52, a sailor's
25. Fraser family connections [0.982636]
Greetings to everyone from Perth in Western Australia. I am tracing my husband's family (FRASER) in Perthshire. I would love to hear from any other Frasers on this list, or anyone else with Fraser in their family tree. So far, my research has primarily used the Scots Origin on-line services which I think are fantastic. I wish more govt agencies would offer the same kind of service, especially for people like me who are so far away from the real thing. My research is stuck at the momemt on John FRASER w
