Hi everyone,
I'm a new member of this list, and thought I'd post my interests. David MACFARLANE married Margaret DYKES in Perth, and they had at least two children, both born in Perth: William Smart MACFARLANE (born 1821) and Euphan MACFARLANE (born 1825.) Does anyone recognise this family?

Hello,
My name is Elaine Huesing and I live in Canada.
My Great Grandfather, Malcolm McRorie immigrated to Canada in the early
1900's, he married Mary Fields (born 1878 in Scotland, Ayr) in Canada
where they settled in New Westminster and White Rock BC.
His Mother was Mary Dallas (born 1853 in Forres, Scotland) and father
was William McRorie (originally from Crieff, born 1847, apparently his
father's name was William as well.). Besides my Great Grandfather,
Malcolm, Mary and William had other chil
Update from The National ArchivistThe National Archives at Kew are adding Army lists and other military records to their online database at a great rate. I have copied their latest online newsletter below as a for-instance. It might be worth looking to see if your Robertson features in any army records shortly before the Crimea. He might have been in another regiment.
Good hunting,
Peter

Hi,
A list of Charge of the Light Brigade casualties can be found at
http://www.capefam.freeserve.co.uk/lightbrig.htm
but no Lt. Col. Robertson.
Lt. Col. is a reasonably senior rank commonly in command of a regiment.
Casualties and regimental histories would certainly record careers of
such, somewhewe! There is a Crimea War Research Society at
http://www.crimeanwar.org/
which might help.

Recently joined, posting my first message. Have checked the List
Archives and don't find a suitable subject for Alexander CAIRNS, who
died aboard the Titanic when it sank April 15, 1912. He was a servant
in First Class.
A family story said my Grandmother, Agnes BRYDEN was engaged to a man
named 'Alex' who died when the Titanic sank. I always thought this to
be only that.....a family story. Recently, I've received a picture of
this man and understand a postcard exists that he sent to Agnes. My
