David,
Seems there is an abundance of conflicting Philly area maps-- I really
appreciate hearing from someone living in the area.
The map I have does not show North Wales off Rt. 309 (north of Philly)--
or anywhere.
You say that the Gwynedd RR station/post office/townships are not on
Rt. 309-- I take it they are close together for Sarah & Daniel to have been
neighbors, in comparison to Bala Cynwyd (on Rt. 23 west of Philly)

Sally,
Appreciate the info-- but now I'm confused, which I'm hoping someone out
there can clear up. Several people have told me that Bala Cynwood is a
Philly suburb-- I suppose Phila. city could lie in both Phila. & Montgomery
county (assuming those two counties border each other)...
BTW, all this time I was pronouncing it Bala Sinwood.

Kerry, I am taking it upon myself to pass a portion of what you sent to me
to some lists-- the part indicating that Sarah MORGAN was of Welsh stock...
well, not that exactly, as I think that might have been commonly known, but
the fact that her ancestors settled "a little east of the BOONEs." 'Course
that places them near what is now NE Philly-- I was thinking Bala Cynwood
was in West Philly. Oh well...
I'm sending it to the BOONE & Philly-ROOTS lists, for obvious reasons; I,m
sending it to Penna.-ROOTS
I said I had settled on Bala Cynwyd as the birthplace of Sarah MORGAN,
pending info. to the contrary-- I didn't think it would come this soon...
The book by Faragher says that the BOONEs came into Phila. & went almost
immediately to Abington, 12 mi. north of (today's downtown) Philly, shortly
thereafter going to Gwynedd 10 mi. to the northwest.
Now you say North Wales is just one mi. away from Gwynedd, while Bala
Cynwyd is some 20 miles away.
Therefore it seems more likely that Sarah was born in North Wa
Well, I guess I didn't phrase that subject quite rght-- my question is not
whether it was near Philly, but was it a formally named locale, or was it
an area sometimes referred to as Bala Wales because the people living there
were from Wales. Perhaps there was a placed named Bala? I do recall there
is a place now named Bala Cynwood-- I believe that might be an ethnic
suberb of Philly?
BTW, last night I discovered and shared about several MORGANs in Schuylkill
Co. where the Place of Nativity was S. Wales.
Well, Fred, you are outvoted by some 50-to-one.
It is spelled Bala Cynwyd, and once upon a time, long ago, it was part of
Phila. Co., but today in effect there is no Phila. Co., as the city of
Phila. encompasses all of it-- in fact, I'm not even sure there is such a
place as Phila. Co. any longer..
Bala Cynwyd is now part of Montgomery Co., and has been since 1784.
Now I hope you are not too irritated-- this illustrates why I distrust
info. that can be found on the internet.
Now I'm going to send this a

There used to be a PA Genealogy list before the infamous spammer killed the

Ref. Sarah MORGAN mother of the "famous" Daniel BOONE, it's seems more
reasonable that she was born & lived in the U.S. community of North Wales,
since that is one mile from Gwynedd-- where it is known Squire's early
family lived before they went on to Berks Co.
At some point I will need to determine which, if any, of their children
were born in Gwynedd. Daniel was born in Berks Co., I'm sure, but then he
was the 6th child. As someone pointed out, the Daniel BOONE homestead is
in Pottstown. Exactly wher

This is what someone sent me ref. location of Bala Cynwood;
someone else mentioned that Bala Cynwood is a suburb of Phila.;
I've also been told thatit is northwest of Phila.--
all this probably describes the same area.
But that leaves me wondering if this is the approximate area that the

In 1880, my Schumacher/Kroener families lived at 1210 S. Warnock Street.
Does anyone know where I go to ask about church records for the family. I
know that they were Catholic. Daughter/Gdaughter Emma Letta Kroener was
born Jan 12 1871 according to her death certificate, but Vital records says
there is no certificate for a 5 year period. I written several times.
Therefore, I am looking for church records from 1871 (her
birth/christening) to her fathers death somewhere between 1880 and 1890.

Hi, I am knew to the 'PHILLY" list and hope someone mmight be able to help
me?
I am researching the HENSEL family in Philadelphia. I was in Philly recently
and had a rewarding genealogy journey to Laurel Hill cemetary and to several
addresses of 'family homes' that were once. I was unable to find a family
home on PARK St. It seems Park street does not exist as I could not find it
on the map and the helpful gentleman at the Visitors Information had never
heard of such a street. It was, according to the f
Hi, all you Philly-roots people! I was raised in Philly, a few blocks
away from the place they knocked down Ben's shack-it was on the creek.
An apartment building was built near the spot. It is not even close to
North phila. It is greater northeast area-some people call it
Torresdale. As for knocking down houses for no reason, that's what
happened to my husband's family. Shortly after moving into a new
location, his dad died from the stress. The city never finished putting
in the highway, not there,
I'd like to communicate with anyone researching HARLANDs, especially

One last time, seeking any info on parents and lineage of Dr. Herbert
