1. Re: [PIATT] Re: Piatt Park [1]
There is a Piatt park in downtown Cincinnati. I think they pronounce their name Pi' att. I have not been able to connect their line to mine though (Scioto Co. / Adams county Piatts). Amanda Kemen Cincinnati, OH

Hi Laverne, List Is it ok to attend just part of the week? If so, sign me up for the nights of the 24, 25, 26, and 27 and please let me know how late I can check in--Im driving about 9 hours. > 17th PIATT RESEARCHERS' CONFERENCE > 24-30 JUNE 2001 > DELAWARE VALLEY COLLEGE, Doylestown PA. > > Rooms are $20 per person per night. 4. [PIATT] Pronounciation and sorry [1]
Sorry to send the message to the list that I intended to send to Nancy privately. The old eyeballs must have been pretty well crossed. Thanks goodness I didn't make one of my smart aleck comments in the message. One advantage of having a difficult to pronounce name is that I don't talk to any telemarketers who can't get it right. If they can't pronounce my name correctly, they must not know me, so it's "Sorry, wrong number." -- Laverne Ingram Piatt Ontario, OH
5. Re: [PIATT] Phantom John [1]
For Laverne, As I said before, I think John & Frances is possible, but considering the status of women in his era, I doubt that he would be identified as her husband. I have not gotten out Joe Kearney's charts, but, if my memory is good, he was a Franchman living in a mainly Dutch settlement and to have identified him as John of France seems more likely. People were much closer to the old country than we are all these generations later and it never crossed my mind that it meant anything other than identif

7. Re: [PIATT] We have 100 members! [1]
Hi Nancy, Thanks for your good words and kind thoughts. Yes, we try to keep on and not give up. Ed continues to do well. And my mother is about 75% I'd say, and improving. Her appetite has returned, she's cooking for herself and getting around more normally, thank goodness. I'm almost caught up with my e-mail. I think I have about 4 more to do but not tonight. They will take a little longer so can wait until tomorrow or Thursday. We get a whole two days off for Spring Break! But you can bet I will
8. Re: [PIATT] Benjamin Piatt and Hannah Bowlsby [1]
Now Richard - you know better than to tell us that you have lots of good stuff....and then make us WAIT!! How cruel! Let me know as soon as the conference is over. (I couldn't talk my husband and two children into spending our vacation in Pennsylvania with me in a library all day). If I could've guaranteed my Richard Pyeatt that I could tell him who his John Piatt/Pyeatt's father was if we went....I think I could've gotten us there! Have a great time and be sure to share with the rest of us when you get bac
9. Re: [PIATT] Sarah Morgan Bryan Piatt, poet [1]
For Nancy, Thanks for the information on the burial site of Sarah Morgan Bryan Piatt. I knew her husband was buried in Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati but I guess I had assumed that she might be buried in Caldwell as she was living with her son Cecil there when she died. I checked her obituary in the Piatt Family Newsletter and it did not give her burial place. I'm glad to know that both she and her husband are in the same cemetery. It's only fitting. And you've saved me a wild goose chase in Cal
10. Re: [PIATT] Boone Co. KY Misc. [1]
Thank you, Elise, for posting information about some of the Boone Co KY Piatts. They are an interesting line. I have two questions-- Have you ever tried to locate the papers of Nannie Louise Lodge who published "Everybody's Ancestry?" She died in Covington in the 1930s and I believe was from Boone Co KY. When we had the Piatt Researchers' conference in Cincinnati a few years ago, some of us toured Boone Co. Would you know of the location of the some of the Piatt residences or properties there? If so,

22. Re: [PIATT] Pyatt MARTIN [1]
I enjoy the Pyatt list even though my Pyatt line isn't that long. I noted that Barbara Maybury wrote that I had submitted a list of Pyatt Martin's children to Lou Mohler for one of her books. Indeed I did but at that time, that list wasn't proved. I later found a land record in Marion County, OH that did list all of Pyatt's children including the spouses of some of them. If memory is correct, there were a couple of differences. I have just moved and all my genealogy records are still in

25. [PIATT] Sarah Morgan Bryan Piatt, poet [1]
At our last conference in Fort Wayne, I believe, some of learned that a book about Sarah Morgan Bryan Piatt and her poetry was in the works. In browsing the web this evening I have found two sites concerning a newly published book about her and her poetry. The first at http://www.dispatch.com/news/features01/feb01/607501.html offers a critique on the book published in the Columbus Ohio Dispatch and a photograph of SMB Piatt. I'm amused that a professor at OSU has organized a "Sarah Piatt Week." I must
