I was contacted by a lady who has been trying to find out about her birth family as she was adopted (though not legally). The reason she contacted me is that I have a man listed on one of my death indexes who seems to be a match for who she believes is her birth father and his mother's maiden name is listed as PIATT. Hi Piatt Researchers... Doing some digging on William Piatt, b 1811 d 1900 who was married to Mary Hoblizell and Mary Satterlee. He moved from the East Bend, KY area to Cumberland Maryland in the 1860's and was at one time mayor. In a local newspaper of 1866 there is a taxable person of interest named Paul Piatt. Im so excited! Someone else from my line has submitted a dna sample to be tested for our project. I hope this will help figure out why my dad didnt match! This person would be an uncle to my grandfather (they share a dad but not a mom) so if he and my dad match, we know the gene drops somewhere beyond Carl Edward Pyatt.
