Subject: [PIATT] Photogravure Subscription Information
> Laverne Piatt suggested that we should post information concerning PIATT
> FAMILY PHOTOGRAVURE to the Piatt List.
Dee,
Thanks for posting this info to the list. It is interesting to know something
of the other families the Piatts may have geen associated with. These
families sound wealthy and cosmopolitan, traits not always associated with
Piatt lines, at least that of my husband. (No offense to those of you with
wealthy and cosmopolitan Piatt lines.)
I did find Warren Packer's materials that Lynn had and I found no connection
between that material and what you posted here.
Thanks again,
Laverne
Hi Janis,
Clarissa Piatt, aged 16, (b c1834), is listed in the 1850 census of
Bartholomew Co IN in the household of Benjamin and Rachel McWilliams Piatt,
presumably her parents. Bartholomew Co IN marrige book C5, page 164, gives
the marriage of Clarissa Piatt and Anderson Franklin as 22 Jul 1852. The time
and place are right for both these Clarissas to be the same.
So, yes, Clarissa would be a daughter of the one Benjamin who most often
spelled his name Pyatt in Bartholomew Co IN. This Benjamin was the
Hi Pete,
It's good to see you on the list and to learn that you have so many early New
Jersey connections. I'm sending a lengthy post to the list with some Augusta
Co VA marriages and when I was typing them, especially the Cornelius Peyatt
and Ann Watkins marriage, I was wondering if anyone had a New Jersey marriage
between a Piatt man and a woman whose father was named Cornelius. It's just a
hunch or course, but the Cornelius name does not appear often in the Piatt
line (not as often as Benjamin anyway)
Hello all...Happy Valentines Day!
If you have some time to do some extensive reading, I am providing this link to "A History of Franklin County, PA (1887)--Early Settlers." It is the source of an extensive bit of Pennsylvania history that is very interesting and includes a paragraph (see PATH VALLEY section) about PYATTS, specifically Jacob Pyatt and Jacob Pyatt, Jr.
I suspect the incident reported herein explains why they ultimately moved to OHIO.

Morris Co, NJ Blackfords but connected to the ones in Piscataway. This was
a very easy line to do. The Morris Co NJ site has the cemetery records
online and I was able to gather a lot of info there and a lot of info is on
the pay site, genealogylibrary.com. I didn't fill in my database with all
of the Blackford info, skipped siblings, just took my husband's line back
as far as possible and quit because no one in his family seem

Hi Alley and Pete,
May I beg pardon and butt in here on the mention of someone going to
Bartholomew Co IN to get records. Batholomew Co is a wonderful county for
genealogy. The records are well kept and there was a county genealogist in
the courthouse when I was there. I hope they still fund that position.
Also if the person going to Bartholomew Co IN would like to photograph
tombstones, I can send directions to both cemeteries where I know Piatts are

I was WRONG. I just looked at records for Mason. He was all over WV in
Berkely and other counties but a 1784 entry shows him in PA for birth of his
first son. The entries do not tell where the lawsuits are filed but since
the year of suits is the same as birth of Mason's son, I would assume that
both McWms and Pyatt were in PA when they filed suit.
Funny how I can look at something when I'm tired and see something entirely

Hi Piatt Researchers!
At last I have something to contribute, rather than just asking for help all
the time!
I received the following in response to a query I posted on the Branch
County, Michigan Gen Web page, searching for connections to William A. Piatt
and his parents, William Piatt and Hannah Tindall.
This is extremely interesting information, especially the narrative on
Nathaniel Piatt, son of William and Hannah, as it includes information about
their migration west to Indiana.

I have to look in my notes......if I can find them......but from memory, I
think it was Ohio Co, West Virginia. And of course, WV would have been VA
in 1784 but not sure if Ohio Co was until I look at a map of that ti
Regarding the mention of Samuel Mason being sued by Jacob Pyatt in 1784, I've
looked at the original posting of a few weeks ago and see many reasons to
think that the suit may have taken place in Washington Co PA.
Jacob Pyeatte (Jacob III, who married dElizabeth Dunham) died there in 1784.
His will was probated on 31 May 1784, so it is unlikely that it is this Jacob
who was suing Mason directly in July of that year. It might be that Jacob's
estate was the party to the suit in the normal processing of set

Hi Dee,
Yes, this William was born and lived in Lycoming County, PA. and he had no
connection to my knowledge to the Virginia people. Many of these Piatts' of
Lycoming are buried in Piatt Penny Hill Cemetery and the Washington Cemetery
which is right along side of the old Piatt farm. I have been there many
times.
Some people may know that this original Piatt farm is now the Allenwood
Federal Prison and they own the whole farm. It is located on RT. 15 going
toward Williamsport, PA.

Hi Laverne,
Dan Pyatt lives in Bartholomew Co. I'm assuming Dan knows where Rachael and
Ben are buried since he descends from them but don't know what else he
knows. Dan began his research and then searching came to a halt when his
mom became ill and then his father-in-law.
Dan's on vacation and I think he'll join this list when he returns.

Hi Janis,
This is the line I am researching. My info is on my other computer and I
don't have it set up, yet. (I've just moved.) So glad to find someone
else doing this line. Will gladly exchange info with you.

Hi Alley,
I saw your posting referring to Jacob Pyatt, McWilliams and Mason and meant to
ask earlier--is there a most specific reference to the location of the suit?
1784 is an important date in the Jacob line as the Jacob who was married to
Elizabeth Dunham died that year in Washington Co PA.
Philly925's line goes back to John and Rebecca Piatt who first showed up in
Ohio in the 1820 Montgomery Co OH census. Biographies of their sons show a
connection to the Augusta, Rockbridge, Rockingham Co area of V
Hello everyone!
This is Christine, the listowner for the PIATT-L mailing list dropping

The PIATT GenConnect Boards can be found at

This is a wonderful place to share the resources we've uncovered, and

Has anyone ever run across a Piatt researcher named Joellen Langwell? She posted some helpful information on the William Piatt-Hannah Tindall line on the Latter Day Saints site. I would like to try to connect with her, as this was new information on the line I have been working on. Thanks!

Alley - Is your Blackford line from the early Piscataway, NJ Blackfords? All
of those early families seemed to marry together. The earliest I have is
Samuel Blackford, b. 1683 who was married to Hannah Smalley. Their daughter

had a son Jeremiah who was married to Zerviah Martin. They had a daughter
Rachel who married Enoch Runyon, b. 1755 and another daughter Phoebe who was
married to Elkanah FitzRandolph. Hannah Blackf

Phyllis,
Look through other msgs I sent and find corrected info on Jacob Pyatt. I
believe he was in PA when he filed the suit, not West Virginia.
If I find anything at all for you, I'll send it to the list so you'll see

the web and see if I can find anything.
Could you please type in lowercase? It makes it easier to read. If you
have a problem with your vision and need to type in caps, then just ignore
