I have a Wm Piatt born abt 1770-1780 in NJ. Died Nicholas Co. WVA abt 1842-1850. He married a Mary Smith 17 Nov 1814. I found material in the Draper Manuscripts but sent the material to Lynn White who published the Piatt Family Newsletter. Laverne Piatt has her material so perhaps there is a copy there. I'm searching my files for film number, etc. I found the material thru the Mormon FHC. I have not been able to find Wm Piatt's first wife. They were married in NJ and she died in VA in Augusta

I just checked what little info I have. It appears you have the same line I am working on. I think John is the brother of James which is my line. Blake is working on this line, also. Laverne: Ann Carter's parents were from NJ. I have Nathan Carter's will from IN. LDS has a lot on the Carters because John Carter married Sarah Packer. One of the present day apostles of the Mormon Church is Boyd Packer. He is descended from the same Phillip Packer who is Sarah's father. I have more on this line than my Piatt line. Nathan Carter had three wives and 21 children. Ann's mother was Elizabeth Leonard, dau of Wm Leonard & Elizabeth. They were married in Gloucester Co., NJ. 16 Jun 1

Hello Dee and List, I have a William Pyatt, my 3rd Great Grandfather, who was in Augusta Co. around 1820 and Married 17 Nov 1814 in Augusta Co., Mary Margaret Smith. Both were born c 1792 in VA and Mary was listed a widow in the Sept. 1850 Census. They had 4 Children, John S., William, Dinah, And Andrew Jackson Pyatt. John S. being my GG Grandfather. Is this the line you are looking for? If so, you are in luck, I have a ton of info and even some pictures of the Pyatt family and the old farmhouse. Let

To the one who has been researching Piatts for 38years. Have you looked at the Warren Packer Collection available at the Family History Centers? It is not indexed. There are many Piatts from OH in that collection. I am still trying to find a first wife for a Wm Piatt who was in Augusta Co VA early 1800's. Any such in your research? I would be interested in your Wm Piatt and Mary Margaret Smith. Do you know who the father of your Wm is? The dates do not fit the Wm I'm looking for but the names are the same. Not only do we have too many Benjamins, now we have too many Williams with Mary Smith as a wife. Because of material in the Draper files, I feel that Mary Smith is a wrong name and perhaps I should check the name Mary Brady as a second wife. Dee29451

Does anyone know who Wm Peatt is? His parents? Siblings? Does anyone have info on Isabella Peatt? A direct descendant of John McWms has a Bible that says her name is Merritt, not Peatt. The Bible is copyrighted AFTER the marriage so the info was added much later than the wedding date. Library of VA archives has the name Peatt and the Rockingham Courthouse in VA also has Peatt. I have not seen the actual marriage record, just the recorded info. This John McWms 2 who married Isabella Peatt is the son
