Thank you, David, for posting this extensive response in answer to this query to the PIATT-L list. Allow me to repost it here at Ancestry. The reason is that the original query was posted to the Piatt board at Ancestry. That board automatically forwards the query to the PIATT-L list. But to ensure that the original

Seems we have a connection, but you, like me are unsure of the exact connection. By documents I have, she is shown to be a branch of a Johnson/Johnston family. I also have that she had been a teacher in Hannibal, Missouri for many years, spent her later years in Episcopal Retirement Home in Chicago subu

You may be interested taking a look at the current eBay auction listing for
an album concerning the Piatt family of Logan Co. OH, Dewitt Co. IL, and
Logan Co. IL.
The eBay description page includes an image of the teaching certificate of
Herman Piatt from the University of Illinois, and refers to a Civil War
letter written by Samuel Harrod Piatt of the 107th Illinois Infantry.
Does anyone know if the person that has the highest bid for the Piatt e-bay

Could someone please let me know? It would be a shame for these items to go
to just a regular collector?

If this is the same Graveyard then the photo must be of, "Mrs Thomas Pyaat
March 20, 1760 in the 28th year of her age", as shown at;
http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/nj/middlesex/cemeteries/piscataway.txt
But Mrs Thomas Pyaat would be Martha Langstaff and she has her own head
stone at that site "Martha Langstaff, daughter of John Langstaff Died July
28, 1817 aged 82 years".
The date (March 20, 1760) is the same as I found for Thomas at:
Long Island Genealogy http://www.longislandgenealogy.com/hunt/fam0
Good luck!!! Glad this is staying in the family. Anita

I was browsing the Paxton forum at genforum and put in a search for Pyatt.
Surprisingly there was a hit in a very lengthy posting concerning families in
Dorchester Co MD. I have included the link here. Copy and paste into your
browser if the link doesn't work, making sure that the link is unbroken
through "html".
Perhaps someone can comment on why Jacob Pyatt's name is in this inventory.
Did he owe 200? Or was he owed that amount by the deceased? I have
capitalized Jacob's name so it may be fo
cont: my PIATT family also was from Ohio, but I do not know which one they
extended from.
My Piatt is Elizabeth "Hannah", as she went by . her parents were Jane smith
and Moses Piatt from west or just Virginia.
I have a feeling that her parents may have died before she was of age, as
her marriage record from Indiana had a Mr. Brown listed as her caretaker.
maybe he was married to her sister?
Some day I hope to stumble onto this info. Hanna was born in Ohio, if I
recall correctly in 1829.

It seems to me that this Charlotte Piatt you are apeaking about came from the
JOHN PIATT family, one of the five revolutionary brothers.
However, I am more interested in your Johnson-JOHNSTON connection. Could you
write me directly. Thanks.
Richard Piatt, FL.
Does anyone out there recognize these names? Dale Piatt, Myra Piatt,
Harry Piatt, EJ Piatt, JL Piatt, Effie Piatt, Thomas Piatt, Dr. McKel,
Mr. Plesciats, James, Eliza, Lura Cantrell or Cautrell? I have the
opportunity to purchase documents from these people and need to know
where they fit in the family.
Thank you everybody.
Sincerely,
Becky Cumins

Anita,
Yes, they are in good hands and if I am the successful bidder I will
share all info with all. I have also just purchased a brief history of
Piatt Lodge No. 194 from 1848-1923. Not only to I have a family interest
in the collection, but the soldier wounded at Bull Run photo is where I
currently work as a park ranger. I would also very much like to have
that photo.
Thank you,

Hi folks--
Im in the process of abstracting Pyatts from the historical newspaper
collection at ancestry.com and have come across a family I can't place.
Time frame is Early 1920's
This family is:
Mom: Ann M. Pyatt
Daughter Mrs Kent Williamson (has son Joe and lived in Chicago)
Son: Dr Ed Pyatt of Pine Bluff Arkansas
There is also mention of George Pyatt who moved to Louisville to continue to
study medicine. Unsure whether this is Ann's husband or son. George and
Ann are mentioned in a notice of auc
