1. [PIATT] Gabriel Pyeatt 1810 Louisiana Territory [1]
Does anyone have this individual in their files? My interest is that this could have been part of Louisiana Territory that became Missouri and my Washington Byrd Pyeatt b: 1875 in MO gave his name on the 1910 census as "Gabril W" Pyeatt. His parents were William and Diana Hornsby Pyeatt (Wm b: 1832 Jefferson Co, MO). 2. [PIATT] Alternate spellings [1]
I have found my Piatt/Pyatts spelled Payett, Peyatt and Peatt on occasion (besides the many other more common varieties). Do any of you know if large concentrations of Payette, etc. that are actually other families. Another words, do you know of Canadian/English etc. lines that have a standard spelling such as Peatt? I am trying to decide whether to include all of them in my website databases or just the ones that I recognize as "ours". Do I need to avoid certain areas of the country or states, such as Minn

I also think it is my family also. anita. CA

For those of you who subscribed to Eleanor White's Piatt Family Newsletter, Lynn published it in Volume 8, #2, 3 and 4 on pages 15-33, she also published my, "Trail of Two Guys," which brought my side of the family up to date from John Bear's Journal....he was my great Grandfather....to 1992. 5. Re: [PIATT] Searching for James A. Piatt [1]
I received your message concerning James A. Piatt. He is my great great Grandfather. His son John Bear Piatt, my great grandfather, kept a journal apparently for most of his adult life born Nov. 11 1805 and died June 18, 1893. Great Grandfather's Journal was hand-written, but contains much material of all the Piatt's he came in contact with during his life of wandering, and of course much detailed information of his own family. I transcribed this journal about 10 years ago and my oldest son is now the c

There is a Hannah, age 50, head of household, living with, among others, a child named Hannah, age 12, in the town of Lea Porte, County of Lea Porte. Checked for a Peter Case w/ a Hannah and didn't find one. genealogylibrary.com is $10 month. I have found tons of Indiana info on the site. The 1850 census for Indiana is online and they show actual census images. One can sub by the year and save money or pay for only one month and then unsub. Alley

Laverne, At one time, when I was living in Augusta, I copied some Piatt info from a "History of Hamilton and other counties of IN". That is not the title of the book. Seems like it was Hamilton & Crawford Co, IN. I sent it to Eleanor. It was about three pages. The book is in the Augusta Library. Plan to go over the last weekend in August. If you don't hear from someone, I'll copy it again for you. I can't remember exactly how much family info there was. Dee

When I first began researching Piatt, I was not sure if it linked to my line. I've gone back one more generation with my McWms and now feel sure that Rachael McWms, dau of John in Augusta Co., is the niece of my James McWms. No longer sure that James is my James, however. Instead, he may be the brother of my George. Have I confused you, yet? 'Tis okay since I often confuse myself. Rachael m. Benjamin Peatt/Piatt. The McWms have now been found throughout the Shenandoah Valley and also in those counti
