I'll bet the Platt listed here is really a Piatt:

Laverne,
In the "Genealogies of New Jersey Families", Volume 1, page 829, Mr. Oliver
B. Leonard is mentioned as a painstaking and reliable genealogist. With the
more prominent historians and genealogists on New Jersey history I have known in
my 42 years of genealogical research, he was highly considered as a great
individual. Enough for me!
Dick Piatt, PA.
Terrific. Many years ago I was in SLC but I've neaver been to the FHC or
done genealogical work there. Sign me up. My preference is for the middle of
June (whatever that means). I was very disappointed to miss this year's
conference. Just had too much going on.

In the interest of looking at associated families in the hopes of finding additional information on Piatt/Pyatt I found the following at:
http://www.jesshistorical.org/Jessamine%20County%20Kentucky%20Families/b167.htm
My question is: Is the Rev Jonathan Dunham who performed the 1755 marriage ceremony in Loudoun Co VA, the same Rev Jonathan Dunham who was the son-in-law of Rene Piatt?

Hi Laverne and David,
Well, I am going to throw my two cents in here on this one even though you
may not be interested in my comments on the people you mention in the cemetery
in the order stated.
First, Mrs. Thomas Pyaat, she did NOT die March 20, 1760. This is in error,
more later.
Second, Experience S. Dunn. She was the daughter of Lewis and Rachel Dunn,
Rachel
being the daughter of Ephraim and Mercy Pyatt.
Third, Ruth, correct as stated.
Fourth, James Piatt, correct data, husband of
For John Keilch:
Yes, I agree that the division of the Baptists in the Piscataway area in the early 1700s was an important event to the Pyatts and related families. I believe that by following the histories of the congregations and of the allied families we might be able to pick up a few new facts relating to Pyatts and their times.
I continue to be amazed by the distances across which people travelled and kept in touch in those days. (Should I admit how often I don't see my own first cousins today?) A
In the past few days I've read a several versions of how the division in the Piscatway Baptist Church came to be. They are all basically the same. Here are two.
"Morgan Edwards Materials Toward a History of American Baptists," Philadelphia, 1770, an original copy held by the Library Company of Philadelphia, Locust St, Philadelphia.
"About the year 1700 a separation from this church took place: the occasion was as follows: 'one Hezekiah Bonham was doing some servile work on Sunday: Mr Edmund Dunham adm
To Terry Manning. He recently joined our Piatt DNA study and so far
matches my line 12 of 12 markers (the rest of the test is still pending, but
I doubt it will disprove his line).
So what does this mean?
It means the sons of John S Piatt and Mary Snider Piatt are genetic brothers
We already know these Piatts do not match the siblings of John S,
therefore, and Laverne please correct me if Im wrong, John S Piatt could not
be the biological son of William and Mary Smith Piatt.

Hi Listers!
Just recieved an email from a Piatt in Saskatchewan (Canada) who has just
started her research (thanks in part to a letter I sent to all Saskatchewan
Piatts regarding Simeon) and I think we might need some help here.
Adell's husband is Gordon Piatt. Family legend is that his grandfather
Henry came to Saskatchewan in 1900 from Oregon.
Anyone got a Henry that fits that profile?
Thanks,
Robin
Hi, Laverne --
In my notes, I have Rev. Jonathan Dunham (b1695, d1779 NJ) as a member in
1722 of the Seventh Day Baptist congregation in Piscataway (I think his
father, Rev. Edmund Dunham, was the founding minister), and as ordained in
Conococheague, PA, in 1845. I had never read the full account you quoted,
so my information was from another (now forgotten) source, though of course
it may have derived from the Leonard file.
The division of the 1st Day and the 7th Day Baptists was central to Pyatt

During the recent Piatt Researchers' Conference in Doylestown PA a few of us had the opportunity to examine a small portion of the papers of researcher Oliver B Leonard which are now held by the Historical Society of New Jersey in Newark NJ. Time was too short to even begin a full examination of the Leonard papers but a couple of items of importance came to light nonetheless.
Oliver B Leonard researched not only New Jersey history but also families of the Woodbridge and Plainfield, New Jersey, areas. He
I have tried to post to the PIATT-L list a couple of time since returning from conference, but have had no success. The copies of the posts are in my inbox, but nothing bounces back from the list.
This message is to try again as a reply to a previous post (with subject line changed). And so as not to waste the post let me ask what anyone knows about New Jersey researcher Oliver B Leonard who compiled quite a bit of research on the families of Woodbridge and Piscataway, New Jersey, and who was mentioned b
Oliver B Leonard's file on church history (see posting on Conococheague-Piscataway Connection) contained another item of interest to Piatt researchers.
Four handwritten pages relate biographical information concerning Rev Edmund Dunham and his son Rev Jonathan Dunham of the Piscataway (NJ) Seventh Day Baptist Church. A reference at the top of the first page indicates that these four pages were, in turn, pages 129-133 of a publication titled "Morgan Edwards Materials...," Philadelphia, 1772. A trip to the

To any of you who have never worked at the FH library in SLC, you will love
it! It is at that library where I first found the link that helped me prove my
Martin/Pyatt line!
I've been mostly a "lurker" on the list but have alwys hoped I'd be able to

To all interested parties,
At this year's Piatt Researchers' Conference in Doylestown,
Pennsylvania, interest was expressed in holding the 2005 conference in
Salt Lake City. One of the advantages to meeting in Salt Lake City is
that it is possible to conduct research for locations all over the world
from a single physical location. I'm hoping that this might attract
other researchers from the Pyeatt (Arkansas) branch of the family who
have not joined us in the past.
Since I live in the vicinity, I
After sending off the e-mail, I realized that I may have been more
exuberant in my phrasing than I should have. When we left Doylestown,
we had not made a firm commitment to hold the conference in Salt Lake
City, although there was a fair amount of interest. I was somewhat
tentative in offering to organize everything because I was afraid that I
wouldn't be able to find housing at a cost that was comparable to what
we've paid at previous conferences. So I left promising to check things
out and see how fea
There have been a couple of questions asked about the facilities at the
University of Utah and I thought you all might like to know the answers.
1. Bed linens, blankets, towels and pillows are included in the
price of we pay per person. Towels and wash cloths can be exchanged
daily, if that is your personal preference-- again, at no extra charge.
2. The facility is air-conditioned, so you needn't worry about fans
or other means to cool off your room.
3. Each building has its own coin-operated laundry.
4.
Ok help me straighten out this tangle...here is what I have.
If Walter is a son of Thomas Latham b 1825 m Katherine Snyder, then his dad
would be John Amos b1770? Mom would be Juliann Engle of Maryland. John
Amos was the son of John Piatt and Deborah Brunson. I lose the line there.
Can anyone help clarify this?
