Yes, Robin, they can't not be related. But proving it is another matter. When you are divorced and singing on the street corner, here are the lyrics. Trouble is, they make sense:
I'm My Own Grandpa
( Lonzo & Oscar )
It sounds funny, I know,
But it really is so,
Oh, I'm my own grandpa.
I'm my own grandpa.
I'm my own grandpa.
It sounds funny, I know,
But it really is so,
Oh, I'm my own grandpa.
Now many, many years ago, when I was twenty-three,
I was married to a widow who was pretty as could be.

Columbus Edmond Piatt was the son of William Piatt, of Jefferson Co., TN.
Columbus married Dixie Tinsley. Dixie returned from Manila to Dandridge, TN and
lived her lifetime there. They descend from the John Pyott family of Loudoun
Co., VA.
Dick Piatt, PA.
I believe there were persons researching this family on the Piatt list not
too long ago.
This is J. Don Piatt born 11/13/1899, died 1967, married to Gertrude Waltron.
He was the son of Fred Adolphus and Laura (Shaw) Piatt.

The above link should go to the listing made for the Old Opequon Cemetery (Frederick Co VA) recently posted at rootsweb.com
Although there are no Piatts listed there are several listings for Glass. It's still a question if the Catherine Glass who married William Pyatt is connected to these people but interested researchers might want to take a look.

Dave,
Certainly there is a mix-up somewhere with your email of 1/3/2004. I have
returned home from our winter home in Florida and recently reviewed this with my
records.
I do believe that Thomas Pyatt, born 1731-32, died 3/20/1760, married 1756(?)
to Martha Drake, born 11/3/1727, is the one buried in the old graveyard. I
have often surmised that Martha may have remarried unless she had died previous
to Thomas. This Thomas is definitely the son of James and Ruth Pyatt.
But, I do not think Martha Lang
Quite by accident I ran across an obit for an Anna E Gorrell.
Anna was the daughter of Dr John White and wife Elizabeth Piatt and wife
(widow) of Alexander C Gorrell of Monroe Co, OH. Anna died in Beverly, OH
on her 81st birthday in 1952 (obit is from the Zanesville OH Times Signal,
Sept 14, 1952 and will be posted on www.piattresearchers.net as soon as I
can get to it)
Anna and Alexander Gorrell had two sons, Donald and Harold. These are names
in my Gorrell family also, but no known relation to my line
Nathan Alexander Pyatt was born 20 Nov 1875 in Mason Co, WV. He married
Fannie Morgan in 1899 and had three boys. Their names are Chester, Roy, and
Charles and it's not likely they are still living. I need any information
on this family and desperately need to contact any living relatives. If
someone can supply birthdates for the sons or daughter Hattie I may be able
to find spouses and next generation.
Any help appreciated.
Robin
Seeking information on Jane Pyatt who married Thomas Roberts. They had a
child Janet Roberts born 28 Feb 1785 in Philadelphia.
Who are Jane's parents?
Thanks,
Robin
After checking the site several times a day for a month, we finally have my
Uncle Bill's first 12 markers back. As you can imagine, Im delighted to
announce that Dad and Uncle Bill are a perfect match to each other.
Unfortunately that means that neither are a match to the Piatt study.
.
What this means from a genealogy standpoint is that Ernest and Bill are both
Carl's sons, and that Bob (Dad) is Ernest's son. So we have to prove that
Carl was really the biological son of Edward William and Amy Throc
