Well, it took me awhile, but I finally entered names in the family tree program. The reason I have come to the conclusion that John & Elizabeth had 15 children is mainly from the 1830, 1840, 1850 & 1860 census records.
I think there were 3 unknown females:

I don't mind. Here are two more. My father was Piatt Koch, and my son
is Joseph Piatt Koch.

Hi Don, You are not my direct line, but I read your story and surely enjoyed
it. One of my favorite family stories re gen. was years ago when we were just
getting started (we being my dad, Cecil C. Piatt and I ) and we were at the
big Mormon Library in Santa Monica and he was searching for his mother's line
(Folsom Electa Bunn Piatt).....census records...he came to the end of the road
and came to the table where I was quietly working along with several others
and he announced in a loud voice, "Well,
I have been compiling a list of individuals with Piatt as a given name or a middle name. (It won't be done for a while.) In doing so I came across a list of officers who went with Major General John Sullivan on his march against the Six Nations in 1799. Three of the Revolutionary Piatts are listed.
The list can be seen at:

If the link doesn't work a google search for
piatt+sullivan+military
will put it at the top of the list of
Puzzled by the message that was posted about our fellow researcher Barbara Maybury I searched the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Unfortunately, I found the following:

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
An 81-year-old woman died yesterday after she was struck by a vehicle in Bellevue, authorities said.
Barbara Maybury, of Bellevue, was struck about 10:25 a.m. at Lincoln and Meade avenues. She was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, where she died a
Ebay tells me today that there is an interesting Piatt item up for bids. It is a 15 piece silver martini set presented to Capt Columbus E Piatt, Chief of Police of Manila, Philippine Islands, in 1936.
Martini's? Police? Oh, well, it was a different time.
Columbus Piatt is not listed in the Piatt Family Newsletter. Does anyone know anything about him?

Perhaps this would be a good time to post a reminder about the Piatt Researchers Conference and invite newcomers to join us for a week of work and fun.

Thank you for researching and posting the additional information about
Barbara Maybury, Laverne. She has long been a familiar name in connection with
Piatt research, and she will be missed. Beth Lauer
Hi, Robin --
Apparently, this Williams's middle name was Piatt, but his surname was
Flesher, as described in the following:
"826. William Piatt FLESHER was born in 1850 in Illinois.(1812) (252) He
appeared on the census in 1850. (252) He was born on 14 Mar 1850 in
Illinois. (16) He died on 12 Jun 1924. (16) He died on 29 Nov 1939 in
McLean County, Illinois. (1813) He was buried in Lexington Cemetery,
Lexington, McLean County, Illinois.(16)
"He was married to Clara STRETCH on 13 Mar 1873 in McLean Co
For Don,
Good to know you are still criss-crossing the continent and working genealogy in when you can. You daughter gets an atta-girl for finding the Memphis directory listing for Michael Piatt. Maybe this is only the first bite of the genealogy bug for her.
Interesting how the Piatt records hide and hide and hide and then pop out unexpectedly when they want to.
I had been thinking of Memphis for several days as I had recently read another article on the New Madrid earthquakes of 1811-1812. (Certainl
Hi listers,
I sent this as a forward to a couple of you, but then thought that more listers might be interested in this newsletter from the Allen County Indiana Public Library in Fort Wayne, especially since we have a couple of conferences in Fort Wayne.

For Robin and John,
In following up on the link posted by John Keilch as a source for the information on WILLIAM PIATT FLESHER, I found that he was the son of JOHN FLESHER JR and FRANCES JANE ECKLES. John Jr and Frances Eckles were married in McClean Co IL on 20 May 1849. Frances had been born in Ohio about 1818.
In checking the Piatt Family Newsletter for Eckles I found that MARGARET PIATT married JOHN GRAHAM ECKLES in 1807. By 1850 John Graham and Margaret Piatt Eckles were in McClean Co IL.

Hi, Laverne --
There was a typographical error in the header to this source. Major
General John Sullivan's expedition occurred not in 1799, but in 1779, which
was correctly reported in the roster of officers in the body of the source.

Yes, Columbus Edmond Piatt belonged to the Andrew Jackson Piatt line of West
Virginia. Jo Lauer may know more on this presently, as I cannot relate any
information at this time due to being in Florida for the winter.
Dick Piatt, PA.
Thanks for the correction, John. Twenty years can make a difference. There is a theory that some of the foot soldiers who went on this march returned to the area after the war was over and that may be the reason and the way some Piatts reached NY.

Major Henry Fleisher (William Piatt Flesher's great grandfather) was a
