The Piatt Family Newsletter published quite a bit on the Piatt families of Adams Co OH. Some of the affiliated names are included, too. Since the publisher of the Newsletter is deceased, the master copies came to me to be used to make copies available for anyone who wants to order a volume at original publication pri
I would urge others in the NJ roots group (the 25/25 match majority) at:
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Piatt
to upgrade to the 59 marker test as well. It is pricy at $148, but that's less than the cost of the original test of 25 markers. The upgrade actually gives an additional 34 markers for less than the cost of the original 25. The test can be ordered from your personal page. For this you would need your kit number, your password (both of which are on the certificate you received from FTDNA)
For Robin,
I'll keep looking for information on the 1, 2, or 3 wives of Rev Jonathan Martin, but if nothing is found in the meantime, we have the option of going back to the New Jersey Historical Society in Newark NJ at conference time. Their holdings contain:

For Robin:
Rev Jonathan DUNHAM was married to JANE/JOAN PYATT, not Dinah. Jane outlived him by two years and was his only wife.
DINAH PYATT, Jane's sister, both daughters of Rene and Elizabeth, married Jonathan MARTIN. And wasn't he a Rev Jonathan, too? Dinah was Martin's third wife. I do not have the names of his first two.

We've all seen the estate listing for Rene but I'm posting it again with an eye toward conference in June. This is what is published in the NJ Calendar of Wills but I'm wondering if three might be more information in the original documents in Middlesex, if they still exist.
I found no further reference to bondsman Merlet in other parts of the electronic files, but I noticed a Tindall in this listing not far ahead of the one for Peatt:

Hello;
I found a reference for two other wives for Jonathan Martin in one of the
Monette books. ( I believe it was: "Ye Old Settlers of Piscataway" -- or
similar name. I don't have that handy right now.) Martha Runyan and Elizabeth
Dunham. Unfortunately, I don't have any proof.
I do believe that Jacob Martin was a son of Jonathan Martin and Dinah Pyatt.
They named one of their sons "Pyatt Martin."
If anyone has proof of Jacob's other marriages, I'd really appreciate
information.

Family Tree DNA, the company we use for our Piatt Surname DNA study, has announced a new 59 marker Y-DNA test which will cost $269.
Our study started with the 25 marker test, and although the 37 marker test has been available for some time, none of our participants has upgraded to 37 markers.
There has been a question of whether we would gain enough addition information from the extra markers to warrant the expense of the upgrade. I have not been urging the upgrade because the timeline for those who matc

For Laverne and all other interested parties:
After some discussion with Laverne I ordered an upgrade of my DNA from a 25
marker to a 59 marker on March 29, 2006.
I hope some or all of those that have tested to date can be able to also
upgrade.

In my Adams Co Ohio research Ive run across an archived query regarding a
legal case between McMahans/Piatt 1834/35, assuming Adams County. Does
anyone know anything about this? According to the person who submitted the
query, the McMahans migrated from PA to OH then on to Illinois, leaving
various family members along the way.
Do we have connections?

Hi Listers--
Just wanted you to know that through the generosity of Wilma Jarrells,
Piatts who were handled by the Piatt Funeral Home in Portsmouth Ohio are now
listed with full record information at http://member-webroots
org/deadrelatives/PiattFunHomeOH.htm
This information will now be available through the search feature on the
website or directly by going to www.piattresearchers.net then clicking
People. Scroll down about half way and you will see the link to the records

Wife Onetta age 22
daughter Laura B age 2
son James born May 1880
Aunt Rosanna age 50

All born PA, all parents listed born PA
Rosanna would be Rosanna Farver Pyatt, wife of Jacob so Cyrus isnt Jacob's
son. Rosanna died in IL in 1904, Jacob died 1870.
Boyd would be Boyd Clark Pyatt son of Jacob and Rosanna.
A 19 year old Cyrus Pyatt is listed in Columbiana Co, PA in 1870. He's

Ok now I completely lost.
Rev Jonathan Martin married Dinah Pyatt, Martha Runyan and Elizabeth Dunham,
is that correct?
Does anyone have a list of Rev. Jonathan's offspring by each wife?
According to old notes I have a Jonathan Martin married to Dinah and Martha
who is the son of Rev Jon and Elizabeth. I looked at this family YEARS ago
when I was just starting out in this "game" and now Ive got quite a tangle!
