6. [PIATT] John Piatt, Revolutionary Fifer [0.988096]
Bouncing around the web turned up this 1832 statement concerning John Piatt, Revolutionary War fifer, and son of Major Daniel Piatt of the 1st New Jersey. Apparently this John was a fifer from 1776 until after his father's death in camp in Morristown on (by memory) 16 Apil 1780. The account of Fifer John's experiences in the military seem to be excerpted and it might pay to examine the original document. (If I have misidentified either John or Daniel, please post a correction.) The webpage with the

8. Re: [PIATT] Piatt name [0.988096]
Thanks Liz for the information. Interesting that Rene would pick Piat as a new name. I wonder if he was particularly pious in as in the nomitive form or if the name comes from pieux mensonge which is a white lie. Your magpie theory might be true as well. I translated this. Please excuse any mistakes, I am a bit rusty. Hi Mary, James Pyott (Piett, Pyatt) was born about 1742 and died in 1825 in Upper Darby Township, Delaware County, PA. James "Pyot" was married in 1772 at Old Swede's Church in Philadelphia, PA, to Rosanna Kearnes; she was born about 1750 and died with a will in 1832 in Upper Darby. 16. Re: [PIATT] Francis Piatt [0.988096]
Seeing the name, "Rachel BEAR", reminded me of an article, either in the PFN or the Piatt Photogravure, which contained much bio on Charles Bear Piatt. I think it was submitted by his granddaughter or gr-granddaughter. Could Rachel be an ancestor of Charles, hence the unusual middle name? 20. [PIATT] James Pyat, Delaware County, PA [0.988096]
Hello everyone, I am new to the list and am hoping that some of you might be able to help me with a huge brick wall that I'm having trouble knocking down. I'm trying to find the parents of James Pyat (Pyott, Pyot) who lived around Upper Darby, PA in the late 1700s. He married Rosanna Kearnes in 1772 at Old Swede's Church in Phila. and they had children named: Elizabeth, Mary, James, Richard, Alexander, and Abram. I believe he may be the same James Pyott who is mentioned in Ashmead's history of Del

22. Re: [PIATT] Fryatt signer 1773 [0.988096]
For Robin, We always have to be suspicious of any name that looks like it could be a misreading or misspelling of Piatt/Pyatt. But in the case of Bartholomew Fryatt he really was a Fryatt and his information can be found at: http://www.familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/g/ r/i/Allan-Griffith/FILE/ 0039page.html That's a long link that has to be pasted back together in your URL search line. If you can't get the link to work just do a google search for bartholomew fryatt. He will be your first hit

*argh* Ok. Thanks Laverne. I guess I was hoping that someone would tell me they've researched this and found no-one listed as named FRyatt closer than that last couple of generations. If that were the case we could assume transcription error that was accepted by other researchers. Like our Bartholomew, sources on this one seem pretty limited. Ive never had such as solid brick wall as my William. Thanks for clarifying him! (I think) Robin Pyatt Bellamy www.triedit.net Member, OGS, NGS, GHRS -------
