Just came across a reference that adds another interesting twist to our discussion of PYEATT, PYATT, and PYOTT names in the Carolinas. It can be found in volume 2 of the title, Directory of Scots in the Carolinas, 1680-1830, by David Dobson. (Baltimore, MD: Clearfield Publishing, 2004; v. 1 published in 1986). On page 132, the following entry appears: "PYOTT, Thomas, born in Angus, settled in New Berne, NC, as a flour merchant and baker, a Loyalist in 1776, moved to London in 1777. [PRO.AO13.123.48
