Laverne,
I'm supposed to be helping someone else do some census research either
this evening or sometime tomorrow, so I'll look it up then. The
censuses are indexed, so I'll see what I can find on the actual films.

I think I am putting this together, it would be interesting to know those
other names in Joe Piott's notes. Possibly it would throw more light on the
family.
Fleming S. Piott had a brother John who married Ibba or Abba Brooks who had
two daughters Hester and Lydia, probably the ones nearby in the census for
Fleming Piott.
John and Fleming were the sons of John (born ca 1782) and Hanah Piott from
VA.
With John naming a daughter Hester, it could possibly connect this family to
the John and Deborah Pyot

of Rockwood, Roane County, Tennessee, off Highway 61 about 1/2 mile from
the entrance gate to the plant property.

I realized after sending my last e-mail that there were a few things I
forgot to include...
In the 1850 census, on page 10 (Grainger Co., Tennessee, Dist. #2), I
saw an entry that did not appear in the index, but which looked a lot
like the surname was spelled PIOTT to me. It was for a John PIOTT, aged
28, male, white, born in Tennessee. His wife was listed as Abba, aged
25, female, white, also born in Tennessee. It also indicated that they
had been married within the year. Since Flemming has a son,

Okay-this is what I extracted about Nathaniel Piott, b. 17 Oct 1856,
Morristown, Grainger Co., TN; died 1943 (bur. Reed Cemetery, Cooke, Co.,
Texas). This Nathaniel was the son of Flemming S. and Susan Piott (or
Pyatt).

Laverne,
I would be willing to look up any census record for Nathaniel Piatt.
However, 1860 is not yet indexed by Ancestry and therefore it would be difficult. It
would have to be Grainger County at that time as Hamblen was not yet formed
in Tennessee.
I cannot find any Nathaniel Piott or Pyott in the TN census for 1840, 1850,
1870 per Ancestry. If you could find someone with access to the 1860 index
book and give me a page or anything on Nathaniel Piott I will look it up.

Laverne,
My results are quite similar to everyone else's. Based upon the films,
this is how I interpreted what I found.
Since I couldn't find them in the index for 1860 and there were only a
few pages listing "Rutledge P.O." as opposed to Morristown, I didn't
look very closely at the 1860 census. I just assumed that we were
missing part of the county in BYU's holdings and had planned to check it
out in Salt Lake next time I go up.
In 1850, I read the family's surname as PIOTT and the head of t
Robin sent in the report of Nathaniel PIOT in the 1860 census which is
difficult to read. I have found Nathaniel PYATT in the 1870 census found below. I
also found the parents of Nathaniel in the 1880 census along with Nathaniel
PIATT in the 1930 census. Some of the ages are listed in error by the
enumerator evidently and there
could be errors due to the census being hard to read. 1870 is very hard to
read.

Would someone with access to an online census such as at Ancestry please lookup
the following person in the 1860 census and post to the list?
Nathaniel Piott (probably, or Pyott)
b c 1857
father born VA
likely in Grainger or Hamlen Co TN, maybe Roane or Rhea Co
Thanks.

Laverne--Ancestry.com has only AL, CT, DC, DE, and FL for 1860. And no
Piott or Pyott. Sorry.
