Hi, Laverne --
(1) There is also a reference to Peter Pyeatt in North Carolina Grants in
Tennessee, 1778-1791, page 86. Here are my notes:
Pyatt, Peter, Sgt. -- 428 acres, 1786 Davidson, on the East fork of
Mill Creek, assigned grant to James McCuistien [III:253]
There is a fuller description in Nancy Maxwell's "Peter Pyeatt Timeline,"
which may be the complete abstract:
"Assigns warrant for 428 a. on E Fork of Mill Creek, a S branch of
Cumberland R. in Davidson Co., TN, to Thomas McCuist
I had the pleasure of spending some time at ACPL last Saturday and took the
opportunity to browse through _A Storeboat on the Ohio River, 1838-1840_ by
Jonathan Newman Hamilton. This book was originally typed up from Jonathan
Newman Hamilton's diary manuscript by Covington Williams of St. Charles, IL, a
descendent, and "mimeographed for the family" in 1960.
To my delight, it contained two references to Piatt's Landing. This was, I
believe, located near Rabbit Hash in Boone County, Kentucky, and a F

Hi, Laverne --
I suspect that that 2 different Jacob Pyeatts were recorded in the 1788
Spanish passports to Natchez, since the travellers were recorded as coming
from two entirely separate regions:
(1) Jacob Pyatt, single man, from District of Kentucke. He was probably
Jacob Pyeatt IV from Ohio Co., VA, and Jefferson Co., KY, travelling alone;
this Jacob, born ca 1765 Path Valley PA, was the son of Jacob Pyeatt III
and Nancy Dunham/Dunning?. This Jacob was later (1792) recorded as a
settler in the
Hi, Sharolynn --
John Pyeatt and Martha Jane Blair of Guilford Co., NC, apparently had two
daughters, Martha (Patsy) Pyeatt and Jane Pyeatt. Their birth dates are
uncertain.
(1) Martha (Patsy) Pyeatt -- Here are two web pages that present
information about Martha (Patsy) Pyeatt:
(1.1) "Tradition is, that John WHITE and Martha (Patsy) PYETT were
married in South Carolina and their first born child, was James WHITE born
near Nashville, July 27, 1789. We can guess that John WHITE arrived at

Many Piatts are listed as buried in this cemetery:
LONE PINE PIATT CEMETERY, Shannon County, Missouri
Location: The Piatt Cemetery is located approximately 8 miles north of Eminence,
Mo. on 19 highway. Take county road 252 { a right turn} and go about a quarter of

Robin,
I was able to locate a copy of the original book by W. Thomas Smith,
"Family tree book, genealogical and biographical : listing the relatives
of General William Alexander Smith and of W. Thomas Smith."
After reading what was written, it would appear that some of their
Pyatt/Pyeatt information is faulty. How much is in error will really
require additional research. I plan to go to the FHL in Salt Lake on
Saturday with the hope of examining microfilmed copies of their
reference materials.
This much
This description accompanies a document which will be offered by e-bay in a live auction on September 26. It is estimated to bring between $3000 and $6000. Whoever buys it, would you bring it to the next conference? Images accompany the ebay listing and I'm sure you can find it by searching for a keyword which appears in the description.

I have been going through my Piatt notes today trying to re-organize so I
can get started again. I was reading an e-mail from Laverne I. Piatt
Then I noticed this:
In the records of the marriage bonds between Hannah Piatt and Isaac
Armfield.
It says that she was of lawfull age proven by Peter Case. In the 1850
census, Hamilton Co. IN. shows his family and his wife is Ann, ( who is
thought to be Hannah's sister?)
BUT then I noticed she was born in Virginia and that is where Hannah's
parents were born s
I recently uploaded scans of a Smith Family Genealogy book to the www
piattresearchers.net website that talk extensively about Peter Pyatt and his
family of the Carolinas. They can be found here: http://member-webroots
org/deadrelatives/CarolinaPeter.html
I would appreciate it if descendent researchers or other researchers who are
familiar with this family would give me an opinion on the accuracy of the
text as well as information about their ties (if any) to the Rene line.
Thanks!
Robin
Thanks so much Don!
Do you have a gedcom or any dates on the folks from Abraham Piatt/Jane
Hagerman forward?
My details on this family are sketchy at best!

she, with her father Martin Smith, was moving from thier home in Connecticut

I spent part of last week in Nicholas County, WV and a couple of things need
to be passed on to those of us who are following the WV
Piatts/Pyatts/Peyatts.
First, in all probability we will never know who John S Pyatt's birth
parents are. I spoke with county officials and historical society folks and
a prominent genealogist in the area and was told that prior to 1853
Virginians were not required to file birth or death certificates. So the
only information we could possibly get would have to come from a
