I'm interested to know whether there is any truth to the theory that some of the Hollands of Portland were related to Roger Mortimer, who I understand was the partner of Eleanor Holland. The earliest ancestor we have is Philip Holland who married Margaret Allin on May 31, 1718.
Thank you for any thoughts on this subject.

Sorry for the late reply but I have only just returned from holiday.
My descent from Sir Edmund HUNGERFORD and Margaret BURNELL is through their
son Sir Thomas HUNGERFORD who married Christian HALL(E). Thomas would have
been the sibling of your ancestor Margaret. I have found out some
information about the various families by searching on the internet but this
is mainly limited to possible birth dates and marriages. This link mentions
your ancestors but I know that some of these sites cannot be

May I please join your dialogue with Kevin as I too have a line going
through Sir Edmund Hungerford and Margaret Burnell? I wonder if yours goes through
their daughter Margaret who was born in Down Ampney in 1448 and married Sir
John Ferrers. Their daughter Catherine married Sir Anthony Babington, and that
is my line.
I wonder whether you know about Margaret Hungerford as I can find very
little on her. If you have any information on that Hungerford-Burnell family I
