I look forward to your pictures John, they are always of places I haven't
visited before. A ramble round the Gower coast today would be lovely - blow
the cobwebs away (and the mincepices, christmas cake, xmas pud, etc)!
Looking forward to the next set.

Hi Lloyd,
My copy of the Cronicl arrived this morning and I have had a quick glance through it. Once again there is plenty to interest me and I look forward to reading it in full this evening.

Thanks, John, for the whole "Bow Sreet" series! And as well for the
Oswestry advice - it seems to work quite well, this morning - and we
do work on broadband (which inter alia makes a huge diffference to
reception of JB's photographs!). I am shelving it for more detailed
reading next week, when I can catch a spare half-hour. Lois

Dear Listers,
This week's 'Retrospective Images of Wales', just uploaded onto my
website, features:
1. The romantic Carreg Cennen Castle, near Llandeilo in the county of
Carmarthenshire.
This feature was first shown on 'Images of Wales' in June 1999 (twelve
photos).
2. The parish church at Llansamlet, now in the city of Swansea, Glamorgan.
This feature was first shown on 'Images of Wales' in February 2000 (nine
photos).
To view my Retrospective webpages, go to

This may be useful for family historians who want to tie their research
to actual locations. I typed in "Wales" in the location search box and
got 664 hits. I believe it can be broken down further, perhaps by county
in Wales or England.
On the IMDB (Internet Movie Database) www.imdb.com, you can query films
by location

Hello Jan and all who have contributed to my question on Free BMD. I think I
have found something!! There is a Free BMD marriage for Isaac PRICE and Ann
DAVIES in Pontypridd in 1871. This may well be who I am searching for as it
fits with the birth of the second child in Jan. 1872 in Glamorgan. It does
make the birth of the first son in 1868 suspicious but he seems to have been
a suspicious character anyway. He was murdered in 1906 (never solved) in
Hiteman, Iowa USA. His murder followed the suicide death
Hi Listers,
Please accept this wish for a Happy Christmas to all my

Christmas feelings into your holidays. You are invited to visit them
both:

My understanding is that the 1841 census of Wales listed each family member.
Was there a census in 1851 that also listed each family member? Were there
censuses every 10 years after that?

Hello Viv,
I have recently discovered that my great, great, great grandfather Morgan
Parry moved from Llangurig to the outskirts of Llanidloes and became a lead
miner. Bryntail would have been the nearest mine to his home and I would
be interested in the information you have.
We recently drove from Rhayader to Devil's Bridge and stopped to look around
the old lead mine at Cwmystwyth. My Morgans ancestors were lead miners
there, the first of my family I have found living outside of Powys. The

Hi All
I have stumbled on a web site that I am busy ploughing throught. It is
the records from Oswestry Govt dated as far back in some cases as 1400.
There are 218 pages of names, dates and places - well worth a look,
although you will have to scroll through it all as it is PDF

Hi all,
Let me try again. To access the story, go to
http://homepage.mac.com/venitar/Genealogy/Pioneers/pioneers.html
Then scroll down to the stories section and click on "Christmas in
Woodland." Sorry about any problems!

In 1998 or 99, Dick Jones, on his own, did me a great kindness by stopping at my great grand uncle's (The Rev. David Davies of Malsyrhelem) boyhood home. He found that the lady who lived in and owned the home currently was the Grt. granddaughter of Rev. Davies. Dick had a conversation with her and passed helpful information on to me.

Hi All,
This report on BBC News online (mainly about 1837online.com) doesn't have a
lot of information, but listers might find it (and the associated links) of

Hi,
I agree that the Dyfed List may help, as Solva may be the one in Pembrokeshire, also covered by the Dyfed list. Treleach may be Trelech, Carmarthenshire.
The other thing to establish is whether the Lampeter is in fact the one in Cardiganshire [Ceredigion].

If anyone has links to the above, there is at the moment, a huge old 1870
Family Bible for sale on ebay.
It apparently has lots of old family photos and the inscription reads...
"Christmas gift to Capt. C.M.Davis by his daughter Ella"
Please know I have no connection to the seller but thought it would be a
shame to let this get away from anyone related to this family. Old Bibles
such as this are often passed around by those with no connections to the
family and the pictures taken out and sold.
There is only

The GRO register system changed from FOUR marriages to a page to TWO
marriages per page in 1852.

Hi Alun,
You can get a Marriage Cert copy for a cheque for #7 payable to Ceredigion
County Council, from the Supdt Registrar at Lampeter by post. They will look it
up for you in the year of marriage, or near that, if you send them your data
in full. Please add cost of Cert postage, and include a stamped addressed
envelope. I have got a few this way.
Hi Viv,
I do'nt know who your Roger P is,?? But the Bryntail Mine is close by the
Clywedog Dam at Llanidloes. There is some data on the LDS 1881 re that location
if you have it??
Call me if not, best wishes, Dennis Cleaton, Rads, Powys.

Dear Tom,
There is a Nant-yr-hafod at grid reference 287385,291181 on the edge of
