6. Trevor G Jones Reunion Pages. [1]
Dear Trevor G Jones. I've only seen the last few pages of your translations - I wonder if the book you have translated has any mention of my Great Uncle - his name was Richard Rowlands(from Pentraeth, Anglesey) who arrived in Patagonia aboard the 'Orita' about 1907. He settled in Dyffryn Camway and in 1910 he married Mary Ellen Jones daughter of Owen Cox Jones and Lucy Paynter. They had one daughter named Maglona. Richard took an active part in Eisteddfodau (under the bardic name of Glan Eifion) and Chapel

Hugh you must be provocative..there's two sorts of "TANS" one has a circumflex over it and refers to fire (you see it on fire stations and fire appliances, pronounced TAIN I think) the other does not have a circumflex and means below or under. I must confess I do not know what groes is! Someone will tell us - I can't find it in the dictionary. Re Siani's remark about clogs etc. most interesting and it reminded me of the London term probably elsewhere also, Pattens. I think there is a Worshipful Company of ?

Dear All, I apologise for the cross-postings; I intend this as a 'broadcast' to solicit as many responses as possible. I have recently received a photocopy of a newspaper BMD page (NY Times, 1930) showing the death of a relative. Included in the copy were some of the 'In Memoriam's and three were for the same person (who had died four years previously) and it suddenly struck me that they gave insights into surviving relatives, their names & relationships, viz.: I. "Beloved sister & aunt. Walter, Margaret

15. Tanybryn [1]
And there was me thinking tan meant fire ? Seem to remember auntie shouting "duwch ! Ar y tan !" which at that time in my tender years I took to mean chuck it on the fire. See how wrong one can be ? All this time she must have meant shove it below. Below what ? Then there was the street my gparents lived in PT, Tanygroes St, fire in the groes. What on earth is a groes ? Or below the groes. I can tell you now there wasn't any groes, nowhere, on fire or below. Possibly the word was derived from medi

Hi all I expect this has been asked many times, BUT can someone let me have a comprehensive list of CD's that are available in this country,of census's, I do now posses the 1881 census also the vital records Index British Isles. Also is it possible obtain Electoral Rolls listings, trade people seem to have no trouble getting hold of these listings, but I come up against a brick wall when enquiring. And may I take this opportunity to thank all of those who have taken time to help me look for my lost rela
19. Re: Anglesey - Parry and Christian Joneses [1]
Hi Gwyneth, OPINION 1. Don't know 2. Remember that nonconformist religions tended to have CHAPELS while orthodox religions like Church of England and Roman Catholic had CHURCHES. So the local church, if there was one, would be unlikely to have records of any Baptist minister; I say UNLIKELY becaise there were occasionally Baptist places of worship referred to as churches. Also remember that the "Church of England" and the "Church (of England) in Wales" as run as two separate organisations. For inform

Ronald Kinsey of Seattle WA I do not know these people directly, though I have spoken with them on the phone. Then perhaps the "D & H Vessel" was the boat that went down the waterway from Windor. I thought it was an odd name for a ship going from Liverpool, but you never can tell. Greetings, I was interested in David Peate response to Maldwyn Jones about the Jones and Millward Edwards. My GG grandmother Sarah Bebb, born about 25 Sep 1823 in Meifod. Sarah was the daughter of John Bebb and Elizabeth Evans. At some point Sarah married David Jones who was born 1818--probably in Guilsford. I don't know whether they were married when they immigrated to Ohio. David drowned in Cincinnati on 21 Sep 1867. My G grandmother Margaret Ann Jones was born in 1847 and married Frank Mill
