I am trying to trace my great grandfather David William Lewis (b 1868,
Tregarth, probably Talgarth, Breconshire) who married Mary Ann Davies
(b.1869,Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil). They are on the Merthyr census 1891 at
Llewellyn Street Dowlais) My mother believes that David William Lewis
had a brother Frederick who married a Ruth (maiden name unknown).
Both David and Frederick were in Merthyr, probably by 1891. (David Was)
Maybe David William and Frederick Lewis are shown on 1871 census at
Talgarth. Has anyone
Hello List
if anyone has the 1851 census cd for Montgomeryshire, please could they look for
Thomas HUGHES - a farmer from Carno Parish - unfortunately I have no age for him
and possibly his daughter Anne ROBERTS - according to her MI Anne was born about 1803 so would be about 48 in 1851.
(I've just received a copy of Anne's marriage certificate so I could confirm her maiden name. Unfortunately she was not with her husband Richard Roberts and family at the time of the 1851 census, but I have found them t

Hi everyone,
After lurking around here for a while and having had a good look through the archives, I feel I should introduce myself as having recently become interested in the Jerman (sometimes Jarman) family of Llanidloes. My great-grandfather was Edward Jerman (1873-1943) married to Sarah Ann Ingram (c1873-1933). They had six children, one of whom is still alive. My grandmother was Enid Jerman, married to JW Jones, who some people might remember as he was quite well known around Llanidloes.

Hello! My first posting on this List........
My great grandfather was Charles PRICE bap. 25.7.1856 in Pembridge,
Herefordshire. On his baptism entry it says he is the son of Thomas and
Mary PRICE and I also have his birth cert. which confirms his father as
Thomas PRICE and mother Mary WILLIAMS. They are living at The Forge,
Pembridge.
Charles had an older brother George, born Pembridge l856 and two younger
brothers, Thomas born l858 Pembridge and Samuel born l86l Brilley.

Dear Joanne
The entry for St Bride's Cwmdeuddwr in Mike Salter's book "The old Parish
Churches of Mid-Wales" is very brief. It reads:
The stoup in the porch with three heads may be early Norman. The church was
entirely rebuilt in 1778, and again by Kempson in 1866.
That's all. Best regards, Ruth

While you are researching Davies, I am interested in learning about Thos

love to hear what you learn.

Caroline,
I have looked in the 1851 for Carno and found only two Thomas Hughes,
neither the right age. One was a farmer aged 51 - too young to be Anne's
father. This is him and he is the oldest Thomas Hughes in the area.

Hi List,
I have the above places in my family in Breconshire and am wondering if SKS
would give me some idea if these places are towns, villages or what ever? The
information I have about my grandfather William Powell says he was born at
Hafod-y-Pwll, Llanelli, Breconshire, Wales, May 11, 1834. He received limited
instruction at Bwilth, Breconshire.
In the 1841 Llanelly, BRE Census:
Enumeration District No. 10

Martha " 50 "

Can you please tell me the first names of the Edwards in the records you
have? I have Edwards family from those dates (William and Mary) They had
two sons that I know of William born 1805 and John born 1810
Thanks

Hello Jo, thanks for that. As you say, records from that batch ARE
available to view online, but the CORBETTs I had found on the fiche
don't appear to be included. Very strange.
I had found a Thomas bpt 12 Oct 1806 to a Peter and Elizabeth
CORBETT at Kerry; guessing that a first born male might be given
his fathers name I also found Peter bpt 19 Apr 1793 to a Peter and
Elizabeth, also at Kerry. The batch number for these entries was
C049491 (1620 - 1812).
I'm copying this to the list for info. Anyon
Hi Gareth,
I've neglected my mail lately, and apologise for a tardy
reply. I remember your family very well, that is the Jerman side. I knew
J.W. very well; he taught me in Llani primary school, and very many years
later we served together on the Borough Council. Your grandmother Enid's
family were prominent Baptists as you probably know, and Edward ran the
Sunday School Savings Club for very many years. Ivor, Ewart, and Russell
worked in the Foundry, and Russell was there until it closed i
Hi Len
Glad the links were of use. Perhaps someone else has found a good way of
searching for the history of a farm???
Thankfully we're pretty clear of Foot and Mouth in Devon, but I know they
still have it in Powys, so to the locals out there - we hope you can
overcome this disease quickly and the sheep and cows stay on the hills for
centuries to come.

Dear Nancy,
This is a bit out of my area, but will attempt to help you anyway.
It seems that Peniarth Uchaf and Llanfrothen may be two different places
in your family's history.

Dear possible cousin,
Thanks for your reply.
Humphrey GRIFFITHS has been causing me a problem.
I cannot find a link from him to my Edward Griffiths (1715-1793 of Keel, Meifod) although I might have found a link to his brother RICHARD. I know that you have researched in this area and I really would appreciate your help.
