Many thanks to Erica, Deloris and Lynn for taking the time and looking up

at the age of 29.
Thank you again, it was worth a shot!

Fred,
Try www.tranexp.com:2000/
If it does not want to come up then use a search engine & type in Polish
translation site. Look for Intertran.
I've used the site quite frequently over the last 3 weeks & works beautiful.
Good Luck,
Kathy

nothing &
most of the records from Antwerp were burned. My grandfather left Antwerp on
the vessel Illinois in 1894. Grandmother Hollmann came earlier but I have

OH Dear!! I guess people had problems back then just like people do today!!
I always thought that life was 'simpler' then so people had fewer problems
BUT I have my ggrandmothers brother for example....BOTH he and his wife
committed suicide!! The wife in 1910; she was in the Ogdensburg Psychiatric
facility and I wrote to them....she committed suicide by 'slitting her
throat'....(IMAGINE THAT!)...I wrote to the hospital and do you know that
they still had the records!! She was only there for 9 days and he
I am a new member to this list and have a lot of Prussian ancestors.
One family came from the little hamlet of Neudeck. Family lore says
they were tenant farmers on the Von Hindenburg estates. No clue as to
how valid this is, as no one living knows. A bit of research indicated
that Von Hindenburg did die in Neudeck.
Any thoughts out there as to how to pursue this story? Where would that
area be on today's map? The family attended the Lutheran church when
living in the US. Any ideas and suggestions gr

Hallo all
I read amused the discussion about "oyster stew". I think it was not made
whith oysters but whith shells. And shells are very much in the Baltic Sea!.
In the Limfjord, a seaarm from the Northsea to the Baltic Sea in north of
Denmark, we picked them from the undeep ground, put them in a net, hang this
at the end of the boat and sailed to the next harbour. Then the shells are
very clean and we cooked them whith salt, pepper onions, lorbeer in wine -

Please excuse my English, I learned
I am looking for the family of Ludewig Harms. I believe he was the brother
of Harm Harms, born in 1809, in Oldenburg, Germany. Their father would have
been Garlich Harms. If any one has any information please contact me. I
would be interested in any information on the Harms name and the family that
may still be in Germany. Cindy

Amy;
The Germans to America CD's start in 1850. I did a search and found quite a few Schwantes. The earliest ones came in 1857. Did not find a Christlieb listed. There was a C.A. Schwantes, but this one was only 16 yrs. old.
I was surprised to see your request. There are quite a few Schwantes families that live in our small town (New Holstein). Would you believe I found out a year ago that they are cousins to me? Small world isn't it?
Sorry I couldn't help you more. Do you have any other names that could be
Dear Prussia Mail List,
I have ancestors from Posen, Prussia and was curious how common it was in the
18th -19th centuries for German-speaking Lutherans to marry Polish-speaking
Catholics. Some names in my family sound German and some don't. Does anyone
know anything about this? It sounds as if there were tensions between the
two groups.
Sincerely, Katherine

is Prussia. I"m new at this genealogy business, myself, but I've found that
