1. [PURDELL] APOLOGIES [1]
To all that use this list, I would like to apologise for being off line for about 15 months. This was due to holidays, illness and also moving house. I am now back up and running with a new e-mail address and in fact have started a one name study into PURDELL and its derivatives. I hope to build up a large database as info becomes available and will periodically post some names/questions on this list. I have now joined ancestry.com which opens up some more boxes and I may be able anyone out there Onc

3. Looking [1]
I am looking for contacts with the Purdell surname in England (Wales). Especially in the Gloucestershire area. I am a descendant of George Francis Purdell who came to America from Salperton, Gloucestershire in the 1850's. He was born in 1807-1808. His sons came to America first, and upon the death of his wife Rachel his sons brought him to America. I am the great grandson of his son Joseph Purdell Any information as to how to find family or records would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All, I need some help from SKS who has access to the 1861 and 1871 census/censuses/censii or whatever. I have my GGFather (I think) in the 1881 as: Dwelling: 43 Dumfries Street Census Place: Ystradyfodwg, Glamorgan, Wales. Isaac PURDELL U 21 M Treherbert, Glamorgan, Wales. Rel: Boarder Occ: Coal Miner. I am trying to establish where he was born and the rest of the family details so that I can obtain birth certificates etc. Your Hopefully Phil Marston Amesbury (Nr Stonehenge) UK

This is marvellous new, would you believe that I am researching the PURDELL name for the Latter Day Saints Rootsweb. I would appreciate anything you can give me. I now believe that William Isaac was my GGFather and I know the name Celia has been mentioned. I have a feeling that Margaret Ann PURDELL could be my GMother. I am considering attending the Rhondda Heritage Family fair which I have been told is on 20/21 October 2001. Is this true. Cheers Phil Amesbury (Nr Stonehenge) UK -----Original Mess
7. PURDELL/PUDDLE [1]
As the Purdell list master, I have been surprised at the lack of information regarding this name no births, no marriages, no deaths and have been investigating different spellings. Ernest Purdell (USA) furnished me with the following information: George Francis Purdell Born: 1807-1808: Place: Salperton, Gloucestershire, England: Died: Oct.3, 1885---age:77 Place: Gloversville, NY. , Fulton County, Maple Ave. Cemetery His Children: All born in England.
8. Re: anymore? [1]
Hi, I am a little behind myself, as my computer blew up last week and I have had to get another one. Luckily, I back up my information weekly. However, I thought I was using an address book in "My Documents" which was backed up. For some reason, bearing in mind I have had a few problems with Microsoft Outlook, my e-mail information was all embedded in my old hard drive. I do not fancy fitting the old drive to the new computer (YET)!!! but it will take some time to recover. I have found a few livin
9. GEORGE FRANCIS PURDELL/PUDDLE [1]
I have found a George Puddle, that seems to match your criteria, christened 15 May 1808, Salperton, Gloucester, England. This was found using the following link. His father is given as William Puddle and his mother as Ann. FamilySearch Internet - Search If you want to follow this up, you could probably get a copy of the birth registration from the Gloucestershire records office. 10. RE: PURDELL/PUDDLE [1]
Many Thanks Sue I have already established that: Isaac PURDELL U 21 M Treherbert, Glamorgan, Wales - Rel: Boarder - Occ: Coal Miner is probably my Great Grandfather. My Grandfather's birth certificate - received yesterday (Ernest William Purdell born 24 Nov 1881) - shows his father as William Isaac Purdell and his mother as Jane Purdell (nee Brimmer), Treherbert, Ystradyfodwg. At the moment, the trail goes cold there. I have not yet been able to find a record my Grandparents marriage (assuming it took

If my surmise in the previous messages is correct then George this entry follows on: William PUDDLE marriage Ann Berry 26 Mar 1804, Salperton, Gloucester, England. Possibly related entry - Minnie PUDDLE Born 1867, England, Father William Puddle Mother Ann Humphries. Could this relate to William Born 10 Dec 1832. There are several entries related to William in the late 1700s same source but I am now back to my own family. I have a very small hint that my own PURDELL family also originate f

This is the second name change I have found - no wonder there is a dearth of PURDELL's. The other one was from PUDDLE to PURDELL. Anyway this is new information and very welcome. 16. AMERICAN TRAGEDY [1]
If anyone out there is looking at this then may we all in the UK express our heartfelt sympathy for the tragedy unfolding in America today. There is nothing we do or say that will help if you lose someone close to you and I hope that all listers can eventually come to terms with any losses. I lost a daughter, at the age of 24, just over 7 years ago. The pain never goes away it just eases with time. Phil Marston --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. 21. Elizabeth Maria Purdell [1]
Hi List, Just joined, hoping some kind soul can help me overcome a long-standing brick wall. Elizabeth Maria Purdell was my great grandmother, born in 1851 at Risca, Monmouthshire, according to the return in the 1891 census. On her marriage certificate in Bristol in 1874 she gave her father as William Purdell, a collier. I haven't been able to find Elizabeth's birth registration, nor any marriage or death registration for William, so any help anyone can give with this will be most gratefully recei

Hi Lister, I am returning to the subject of PURDELL having been back to 1652 on my wife's family side in the Shetlands. I now have a birth certificate for William Isaac PURDELL which states that his parents were Uriah and Angel (Coles) PURDELL. He was born on 28 Nov 1860 in Treherbert, was baptised in St John the Baptist, Ystradyfodwg on 17 Feb 1861 but was not registered until 19 March 1861 and this was in Aberdare, Merthyr Tydvil.
