The webpage http://www.tel.tpsa.pl/asp/szukaj_a is the search engine for individuals. following are the two compulsory fields. nazwisko: is the last name miejscowosc: is the town Please note that the site is onl;y in Polish, and that proper Polish letters (with diacritical marks) must be used for the search to work! I am reading records on LDS films from the 1700s. In the dates, they refer to 7ber, 9ber. Does this mean Sept (sept =7) or Nov (which is 9)??? Does anyone know when Jan 1 became officially used as the beginning of the year instead of March 1. Does this change have anything to do with the way they write the dates???? I am trying to find more information about my Great Grandfather. I have just learned that his name was August Johann Dzieminski, born Augsut 24, 1829 and baptised on August 30, 1829 in Lipusz Parish. Andrzejewski is a Polish name, relatively well-known even if not as common as, say, Kowalski or Kwiatkowski. The other name sounds like it if you pronounce it fast. I am betting on a misspelling because the Polish language would not use the letter "y" in that way. With the "y" where it is, Andrayfike cannot be pronounced in Polish. I see in my mind's eye a census-taker who encountered people with a hard-to-understand accent. Anderson and Andrzejewski basically "mean" the same thing--son of Andrew--so cu

"Dobra" can mean Property (in the sense of land) but the only thing "swjinka" looks like is "s~winka" which means "little pig"!!! Estate (in the sense of what someone leaves on dying" is "maja~tek" and mother-in-law is "tes~ciowa". Could someone have left someone a little pig? Or a comment about their mother-in-law? Bob, when I called up www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog It showed FHL film 766073 Item 9-10 has the Roman Catholic church records 1828, 1832 for Parafja Nastasow(Ternopol) was Nastasow, Galicia, Austria later Nastasow, Tarnopol, Poland now Nastasiv, Ternopil, Ukraine Items 1-8 were for Narajow-Brzezany and the balance was the Greek Catholic records. Could not find a spelling Jozefowka. Perhaps the spelling has changed if it is now in the Ukraine. Sue

Hi Melinda, the information which you were given was the person's name and the street which they live on. the city, the province and (maybe) the county. if you need to write a letter to this person you still need the zip code and the post office, if it is not Szczecin. i found in the Polish yellow pages: http://www.teldir.com/real/frame.asp?page=http://www.pkt.pl/index_en.shtml 4 businesses on Kutrzeby ulicia.(street) when you click onto any of the four, you will find phone numbers and zip codes alo
