1. [QC-ETANGLO] Lillian Bourque Russell - ?Sherbrooke? [1]
Request a lookup for: Lillian Bourque Russell, d/o Raphael Bourque and Desneiges Verville. She may have been born in Sherbrooke, QC, as her sister, Rose De Lina Bourque Parker was born there on 6 Feb 1865. Lillian Bourque Russell attended Rose's funeral in Columbia, Coos, NH on 28 Jun 1935. Lillian had a second sister, Deanne, nothing else known, except oral history indicates that she was refered to as "Aunt Ann". Thanks
2. [QC-ETANGLO] Missisquoi roads [1]
Hello All, To elaborate further on David's find in Lalanne's transactions, there are documents at the Montreal archives that very specifically describe the building of roads in Missisquoi. One I recall reading, ran from Frelighsburg to Cowansville & was interesting -- as they gave precise info-- ie from someone's barn to a specific rock - to a tree etc. One imagines there were "trails" of some sort aleady in use along the same route.. It surprised me to see the roads of today follow basically the same ro

David, Many thanks for sending that -- should you receive corrections from the list, please edit the list and if you would like, send it to me and I can add it to the Archives for future reference (and folks not on the list who do visit the web site). 4. [QC-ETANGLO] To whom it may concern - SMITH and HAVER [sic] [1]
While looking for something else I happened to notice: 12-Jul-1803 Will and Codicil of Nath. SMITH. 18-Jul-1803 Will of Christian HAVER (may really be a HAUVER) Both are amongst Leon Lalanne's papers for that year and are available on microfilm from the LDS #1420168. Knowing that early wills are sometimes tough to find I'm hoping I have done someone a favor. I cannot add anything to who these individuals are as neither figure in any of the lines I'm working on. SMITH's will and codicil were about six page
5. [QC-ETANGLO] Attention St. Armand researchers... List of land owners 1804 [1]
While looking for something else I came across a copy of a town vote that lists nearly all of the residents of St. Armand and where they lived. Its tough to read and I know some of these names are badly mangled so if you see something you can 'fix' please let me know. The votes were taken on February 27th and 28th, 1804. The issue was which of two roads would be chosen as the legal road to run between Frelighsburgh and Missisquoi Bay. The wording used for eligibility to vote was "all persons proprietors of
6. [QC-ETANGLO] Hiram Darby [1]
In 1916 my mother visited relatives in Canada. My father wrote to her at this address-- c/o Hiram Darby, Box 15, Granby, Quebec, Canada Evidently from my father's letters to her, she spent all or part of the time on a farm. There was at least one cousin in the household. The relationship was probably on the Murphy or Reynolds side of the family through the wife of Hiram Darby. I am interested in hearing from anyone who can tell me something about Hiram Darby and family. Thank you Mary Sherwood

9. [QC-ETANGLO] Lalanne Documents and Rollin [1]
I recently interpreted three Leon Lalanne legal documents pertaining to my great great grandfather Joel Rollin. I was stumped by a passage occurring similarly in all three which typically was ".... elects his domicile where &c/y Notwithstanding &c/y Promising &c/y Obliging &c/y Renouncing &c/y thus done and passed ....". My question is; what is the wording for that which I interpreted as "&c/y"? I showed the documents to an Ontario lawyer friend and he didn't have any idea. The following individuals we

22. [QC-ETANGLO] Brome County question.... [1]
I'm looking for a Brome County (Potton) church that is likely to have covered the following death/funeral. I'm trying to sort out a relatively recent individual, i.e. he was alive in the 1881 census and living in Potton, Division 2. Past experience with the family suggests he was probably either Methodist or Anglican. His name is Thomas SCHOOLCRAFT and the reported age in 1881 leads to a birth date around 1822 so presumably he would have died within the next twenty years. There is ambiguity, however, in tha
23. RE: [QC-ETANGLO] Missisquoi roads [1]
On the subject of roads Frank Allen sent me a copy of a map of Missisquoi County that he got from National Map collection in Ottawa, H11/300 - 1831 #11 of 12. He stated that on the back was written "Title: Map of the District of Montreal Lower Canada ... with his Majesty's Gracious and Special Permission most humbly and gratefully dedicated by Joseph Bouchette....1831." From the information depicted, the date seems to be correct. One thing that struck me most was the absence of any road from Bedford center
