Hello,
I have moved my page to a different server. How do I notify Query Express,
CCHelper, and Surname Helper of the new url?
Thanks to anybody who will respond,
Diana
The purpose of this list is for USGenWeb volunteers who use the
QueryExpress system to exchange information, help one another with using
the system and to report bugs in the system.
The list is open to anyone who wants or needs info about QueryExpress.
It is not a place to post general queries -- there are plenty of other
lists for that purpose.

I believe that this is the first message that I have seen on this list
except when I asked if anybody was on the list. I guess I don't understand
the purpose of the list. Could someone enlighten me. Thank you.

Hi Everyone:
I have been lurking on the list since I took over the Query Express helm.
This has been a very quiet list, so I presume you are all happy with using
QE for your query management (or you forgot to unsub from this list when
you decided QE wasn't for you ).
I would like to re-do the sign-up procedure -- even I could not
successfully sign-up the first time -- and add some help pages.
I am soliciting feedback and volunteers to help with this task.
Please send me any feedback and/or sugges
The Frank children came in groups. Adolph Max and Louis were the first
ones. Out of the whole group I know very little of Adolph. I know that
he settled in Chicago and that he either got married to Rae and had a
son by the name of Jerome or they goy married and Jerome was born in
Youngstown Ohio but then when I looked on the web and in Ohio Vital
Rexords, I did not get any information.
Adolph with his brothers came in 1896 through 1993, I gather.
Can I have a look up!

Hi,
I've seen at least one county email list that provides information via
QExpress. Can someone direct me to where I can find information about
doing the same for my county email list?

After endless hours of attempting to get my surname page indexed (presently an archaic word processing table saved as html and inserted in my page) , I need help...lots of it! Here's the lowdown:
1) I signed up for Surname Helper and that program indexes my queries just fine.
2) I want to integrate my surname page into the Surname Helper index and have used the index utilities to do that...no go...haven't been successful in indexing the page as yet no matter which utility I've used.

On my Bosque Co., TX queries, I get this under the date.
profile_name: txbosqu2
How can I keep these from coming with every query? They don't come in
on my other 3 query boards.
Thanks,

My recent queries can no longer be found at the url where they were.
("The requested URL /qexpress/sites/nc/wayne.html was not found on this server.")
Did this url change as a result of moving Query Express to a different server at RootsWeb? What would the new url be for the queries that are posted to the web page?
Thanks,
Diana

Diana,
Yes the URL did change with the move. The new address is
http://qexpress.rootsweb.com/sites/nc/wayne.html
Both addresses worked for a couple of months, but the old address
appears to be no longer working now. This was expected to happen at
some point.

Hi all,
I have just taken on the Barrow County, GA web site & wanted to set up
Query Express for it, but I tried to, & it said someone else already had
the site. How can I do the same thing for this county site?

I had to get a new computer and when I did I lost all the notices that I had
received about the changes to be made to Query Express.
I tried to send a test query and got this message:
The requested URL /qexpress-bin/query.cgi was not found on this server

Hi all;
Patty Lindsay, who so graciously takes care of our Query Express
profiles as part of her Surname Helper site manager, posted this message
to the surname helper list. If your site manager page was missing your
Query Express settings, it should be fixed now.

Twice in the past month, I've been silently unsubbed from the Query
Express mailing list. I've also had reports of mail bouncing at my
current address (but I'm still getting plenty of mail. :)
If you post something to this list that needs my direct attention and
you do not hear from me within a reasonable time frame (give me at least
a day. :) - mail me directly. Of course, you are always welcome to mail
me directly the first time.

Hello;
Wally Garchow was kind enough to point out that a small change took
place on the CCHELPER format during the QExpress move earlier this
year - the 'Misc' fields that used to show up before the query
text were showing up after the query text instead. This affected
only people using the CCHELPER format, and only those people who
customized their query forms with extra fields.
I have changed QExpress to be the way it was before - the misc
fields will now show up before, instead of after, the query tex

Ok, here's what you need to do:
Go to your query form(s), and look at the html source. Find the
'action' part of the form. It will look something like this:
Change the 'cgi.rootsweb.com/qexpress-bin' to read
'qexpress.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin':
Good questions.
1. All messages on this list are archived.
http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl
but there have been so few messages, that I am not sure if it is worth the
effort to try to find something that way.
2. Queries stay on the temporary page until the site manager clears it. It
is "temporary" only in the sense that your queries are being warehoused
until you harvest them. Queries on the temporary site are not found by any
of rootsweb's search engines and will only be indexed
