My Quaker ancestors were from Great Yarmouth, Norfolk and their children were boarders at the Ackworth Quaker School, York. The LDS do have some records but I am not sure how late they go. Mike, Being cheeky I know, but are you able to check for an Arthur Reginald Hall Weston at either school? He was b. 17 Nov 1873. We know he went to a Quaker School. If it was either Ackworth or Bootham, it would have been as a boarder as he lived in the Hemel Hempstead area. If possible, thanks a lot. Brylin Thank you for your kind email. I have a copy of the marriage record for John Farrand and Anne Whiting. They were my 5th g grandparents. The John Baker you mentioned I believe had been his master when John Farrand was a baker's apprentice. (He was appropriately named.) I have found a marriage record which I believe is for this John Baker who was married at Devonshire House in 1698. Best Regards Christopher Farrand Willowick, Ohio Brylin Highton wrote: I've jus

Brylin I don't have much information about John Baker. All I can tell you is that he was a baker in London, on Bishopsgate Street. My ancestor John Farrand was his apprentice from 5 March 1710 for 7 years, although he only got his freedom on 5 March 1721, so I'm not sure if his apprenticeship was extended. His older brother Ralph, who appears at his marriage, was also apprenticed to John Baker from 1698 to 1709. They were originally from Kingham, Oxfordshire, which you will see from the attached docum

Brylin, Thank you for this info. I got my ref to the SPARROW/LISTER marriage from the LISTR pedigree in the Wellcome Library which has Lord Lister's papers so have never seen the marriage record nor knew of Samuel Sparrow's parents' details. It is nice to have this additional detail. I do have the record for the GRAY/LISTER marriage so thanks for the offer. I've just been going through the marriage records for the Peele Monthly Meeting in John Street in the county of Middlesex searching for Bakers. I came across some who were witnesses to the marriage of John Farrand of the Parish of St Olave which I presume you have seen already because of your date below 21 of 5th month called July 1720 John Farrand of the Parish of St Olave, son of Willaim Farrand of Kingham of county of Oxon, and Anne Whiteing of Holborn Witnesses who were relatives: Ralph Farrand Ann Fa

I just found another Quaker name of mine in one of the e-mails below: a whole family of HARVEY's starting with Job, son of Henry and Elizabeth and father of a Job, born 24 Mar 1710 in the US and married to Hannah EDWARDS. If anyone has a connection, I have extensive records of these Quakers, many of whom came to Canada before the 1800's because they would not go to war in the revolution and so lost their land. My mother was a descendent of John Lampton HODGSON who came to Canada before 1800 and sett

They are supposed to have married in 1756 (at Peel MM) although this seems late to me. Don't know if they are connected to your folk but I'd be interested to know if they are. I'm not sure why the BBC has only just picked this one up - the archaeologists reported in back in March - see http://thehumanjourney.net//index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=189&Itemid=129 The BBC report is a bit peculiar since it refers to a "mass grave" when it was actually lots of individual graves. I think the writer must have misunderstood the fact that early Friends didn't use gravestones so they were unmarked (though not unrecorded). Joanna Clark Pictures Librarian Library of the Religious S
