Oh, Lord. Ever hear the famous Will Rogers quote: I'm not a member of any
organized religion...I'm a Quaker?" (Or something like that.) Quakerism is
a microcosm of Christianity, a story of splinter, splinter, splinter. Once,
there was one, then two, then...more.

Hi Josette,
You are right, I did a Google Search and found the Wolfe page as well as
the Pennsylvania State Archives page at
http://www.phmc.state.pa.us/bah/dam/landrec.htm
both reference "Old Rights" but I didn't get the impression that they are
different than those in the third series. Vol 2 of the 3rd series has
warrants, 1682-1729 later volumes have these organized by county beginning
in 1733.

Barbara,
I have a Samuel Chew (b. 1660, d. 1718) who lived in Anne Arundel Co., MD,
and married into my Thurston family. If this sounds familiar, let me know.

I can't answer this question BUT...since you're passing through Richmond,
consider making a visit to the library at the Wayne County Historical Museum.
It's located in an old Quaker meetinghouse and has lots of files on old
families.

The Meeting House, by the way, wasn't yet built.
One source for you to look at might be "Inventory of Church Archives:

Dear Mr. Hamm,
Perhaps you can help steer me in the right direction. I have been
searching high and low for information on William Edmundson (1627-1712)
descendants. I have also wondered what happened to his brothers who also
removed to Ireland, and their descendants. I have managed to obtain a copy of
the second edition of William's journal through a cousin. I am rereading it
to obtain any more clues to the family history. I have been unable to find

After my good luck in finding the will of Francis Worth, I spent the
rest of the day at the NC archives and State Library looking for clues
on my Abraham Elliott. I went through every single marriage bond book
for the entire state of NC--looking for an Abraham Elliott who married a
female named Rachel.
I had absolutely no luck. But I did find one marriage bond that jumped
out at me.

Hi Josette,
I've never heard of the "Original Rights Warrants. The original books
were kept in Philadelphia and are now in the Pa. State Archives in
Harrisburg, you might check their web page. The term "Rights" in
Pennsylvania is generally associated with the liberties given to citizens
and not associated with land.
I have a booklet called, "William Penn's Orignial Proposal and Plan for
the Founding & Building of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania, America, in 1683".

I applaud your desire for correct data. You need to evaluate the 2 sources,
to see which seems more likely to be correct. In Quaker terms, the date you
quote would be 28th day of 1st mo 170
Hello listers:
One cousin my mother had communicated with mentioned that Ephraim and Jerusha (Palmer) Lee (both were born in 1755) were Quakers until they moved to Elizabethtown, Ontario, Canada. Apparently, there were no Quaker meetings in the area. They left New York about 1800, but I do not know where they left from.
Would anyone have any information about them? Where they left New York from, Quaker meetings they attended, etc. Nothng is known of Jerusha's parents, just that she was born in Stoni
Hello:
I have been told that my ancestors Robert and Hannah (Hickman) Way were Quakers. Where would I find Quaker information on them? They were married abt 1693 in Chester County, PA and died 1725 (Robert) and 1727 (Hannah) in Kennett Twp, Chester County, PA.
Thank you, Sandra Johnson
Enoch was the son of Isaac Cox and Olive Underwood. I have some
conflicting info that the son, Moorman, was actually named Harmon.
Maybe someone can corroborate that. Linda
