1. [Q-R] Brown [1]
Although I am not new to genealogy research, I am at a lost on researching one family line who are Quakers. This is what I have so far but not proven...In Hinshaw's "American Quaker enealogy, Vol. 5 and The Story of Wrightsboro, 1768-196", I think the Richard and Mary Norton are the parents of my John Brown. I do know John Brown and 2 of his brother migrated to Indiana, Montgomery County, around 1800-1810. All three were doctors. The family story goes that William was killed by Indians in Indiana, but

3. [Q-R] Margaret Brewster [0.978097]
Hello all - I am looking a radical behaviour amongst early Quakers. So, I am currently looking at the life of Margaret Brewster. She was the last woman to be whipped in New England, in 1677. She seems to have had a prophesy, following an illness, that the local community would suffer a 'black pox' epidemic. To warn people she entered a church, her face blackened with ashes in her hair. She was also was bare footed and wearing a sackcloth. Unfortunately witnesses to this event thought she was a devil

5. [Q-R] WORTHINGTON / MENDENHALL [0.978097]
In the last week, since joining Quaker-Roots, I have seen my family names going by like mad. I really feel like I have a home of sorts here. My Father's WORTHINGTON family goes back to John WORTHINGTON b. 1605 Chester, England d. 3 December 1691 Cheshire England. My Mother's MENDENHALL's trace from my Grandmother, Lona Ozella, d/o Oscar Clark MENDENHALL back to John MENDENHALL and, actually, the two lines are joined by marriage through the MARIS family. Scattered throughout the mixture are LEWIS's, FAUL

Catherine, The Friends Meeting in Centre County is still affiliated with BOTH Baltimore and Philadelphia Yearly Meetings. One of the few that has that "distinction". I think yours is a good guess. I'll try Baltimore Meeting and Ohio records. 10. Re: [Q-R] Photos [0.978097]
Hi Cliff, Elizabeth FREED'S Photo is one with a Revenue Stamp on the back. 2 cents orange stamp. Stamps were applied from Aug. 1, 1864 to Aug. 1, 1868. I don't have any idea what Wm. X. TURLEY'S picture is. I would probably have to take it somewhere. But, think it is some sort of Tin Type, it has a paper oval frame around him. His picture has the photographers name on the back. FETTER'S GALLERY, Cor. Fourth & Broadway. Logansport, IND. So will try and get a year/years this photographer was in business
11. [Q-R] AILES-FIRTH-JONES-REYNOLDS (1760's) [0.978097]
Afternoon everyone, I am on the hunt again. I have had the chance to actually sit down and work on my on family this day, and have discovered that a few things are missing from the ole family file. I was given some research that an elder cousin (now deceased) gave me a few years back, problem is that he gave me no documentation, so have been trying to get everything documented. Below are a few of the things that I am missing: Elizabeth AILES, d/o William & Elizabeth (UNDERWOOD) AILES b 1745 probably C
12. [Q-R] Plainfield Souvenir program 1914 [0.978097]
Friends ~ Tracy Jones has shared on the Hendricks county, IN GenWeb, the Friends' Church (Plainfield) --1914 souvenir program. As part of that program, of which she only has a photocopy, there are pictures of several members of the congregation. If you had ancestors here you might want to check it out. However, I'm hoping someone might have an original copy of the program and would be willing to have a copy made for me of my GGgrandmother Sarah M. Woodard of whom I have no clear photo. Has anyone a copy of

(Karen, this is not in response to your post, but a general response to the Family Tree Maker and Double Dates) We can control the Double Date "feature" of Family Tree Maker. I you (users) check the Help Menu of FTM, you can control the "cut off date" for the double dates. For me, I like the fact that we get the xxxx/xx indication. Its a gentle reminder to check the souse where the date came from. From what I have found, I don't always know if the "author" of the date that I am looking at, if from a New C
14. Re: [Q-R] Hinshaw Books [0.978097]
Theresa, These volumes are also available to paid subscribers on Ancestry. They're a little more difficult to use than the actual volumes because when you see an entry such as the following, you can't tell what the surname is for Mary until you follow back to a prior record which would indicate the surname for all of the records that are following. It's visually easier to see when you're using the books because there's a surname and then all of the records for that name are listed underneath. Ency

J C Stubbs - I have a Family Group Sheet on James Johnson & Abigail Barton in the Quaker Collection at: http://home.sprynet.com/sprynet/jrichmon/jnsn2969.htm and can thus confirm portions of the descent which you present. However I cannot confirm the parentage of Thomas Johnson although it may well be correct. The only descendant of Joseph A Johnson & Ann Stanfield known to my correspondent was Lydia Johnson (1808-1861), wife of Charles Collins, who were her ancestors. Regards, Jerry Richmond You are co

My very NON Quaker statement is ... How DARE you cast aspersions on MY policy. How DARE you imply that I am going through life feeling abused. I consider your haughty "holier than thou" attitude to be very small-minded. If you feel the need to express your opinion about anything, please do. 22. RE: [Q-R] Sharing [0.978097]
We assure the people we receive information from that we will not post living generations on the web. There are too many "kooks and crooks" that can get a birthdate and a mother's maiden name and then obtain access to ones credit and bank information, even social security cards and monies. So please be very careful! 23. RE: [Q-R] A Quaker Justice of The Peace [0.978097]
In general I'd have to agree, however I have discovered that, during the earlier years of the 'Quaker Explosion', say from 165x the beginning to some where in the 1720's in the colonies, when MH's had been built, and records were being kept, that the uniformity of belief's and ethic's that were enjoyed in latter years, were perhaps being formed in these years. For example Herodious (Long) a Quaker martyr; w/o John Hicks; w/o George Gardner; w/o ???, was abandoned by John Hicks, married again to George

Does anyone have the Bradford Meeting entries for her and her husband Seymour Coates?
