I am interested in any information available regarding the Quigg/Quig Families that originated in Northern Ireland, Generally from County Derry or any other part of Northern Ireland. My great great grandfather James Quig was transported to the new colony of New South Wales in Australia in the early 1800's as a convict with a seven year sentence for petty theft. He became one of Australia's pioneer settlers and reared a family that now has provided a large number of descendents in Australia.
However,
I am new to the list. Please let me know if anything looks familiar below.
Thank you,
John W. Wells

Dear Eric
Received your querys on your search for your ancestor Quiggs. I have done quite a lot of research on the Quigg family. (I'm married to one) and I have always come up a stopper when I run out of Quiggs in Australia. It's always a pleasure to hear from another Quigg, because I just think that maybe sometime a connection will be made.
My wife's family stem from a James Quig (the name changed to Quigg sometime later in Australia) who was transported to Australia as a convict on the ship Martha.
