I am so happy I found this list today. Hope you guys are still out there. I
have been looking for my grandfather's family for a long time with no luck.
Of course I am stuck here with a family and a job and can't travel, so much
of my searching is on the net.
My grandfather was John Ferdinand Quinton. He said he was born in St Joseph
MO on March 4, 1879. His father was supposed to be John Quinton and mother
was Callie or Chloie Skaggs according to the family bible. Getting him to
talk about his
Hello again,
I really don't have any specific locations as to where they were born,
Where they have definitely lived...
A good guess would be, OKLAHOMA or ARKANSAS as some of the family that
They married into lived in these states...
Thank you,
RitaJane

there are some in
Oklahoma as well as Arkansas as my John QUINTON is listed on the Washington

The John QUINTON that married Alabama WHITE has listed his birth state as
Kentucky.
What I would like to know is there any place where majorities are located
that I can search.
I have used roots web and searched Kentucky to no avail. Does anyone know

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all the great people out there who have
helped me research my families. Without you, I wouldn't/couldn't have found
out so much. You have also been great teachers. I am awed by all the
people who are so willing to share their information, and/or do a lookup for
someone else. I think that genealogists must be some of the most generous
people in the world. Also, A HUGE thanks to all the hard work that the
listowners do. I can't forget either, those who spend hours
Hello List!
I was pleasantly surprised to find this list just today.
I have been searching for the ST. QUINTIN family for quite some time and
have William, mariner in Kingston-upon-Hull in 1771. The family eventually
came to Vancouver, B.C., Canada via Glasgow and then Quebec where Georgina
(ST. QUINTIN) LLOYD died on Jan. 24, 1942. Georgina is my 2XG.Grandmother.
I have all the in-between dates and names. I have not yet connected this
family to THE St. Quintin family of Scampston or back to 1066 with
Sorry, not my branch of the family.

Hello:
My Crittenden/Winton/Quinton ancestry is as follows:
My great-great grandmother was Martha Elizabeth Crittenden (Elizabeth). She was married to J. William Winton.
They were from Arkansas and then Cherokee Nation where they raised their children. My great-grandfather was Mansfield (Don) Winton. He was married to Annie McHenry. They raised their children in Cherokee Nation. My grandmother was Minnie Bell Winton. She was married to William Evans. "Elizabeth" Crittenden Winton's Father was Moses C
There are several recent Edwards and Edgars in my family, but I'm not sure
where the name originated. I'll ask my mother.
Assuming that 18 yo was considered adulthood, Richard's Henry would have not
been born in 1679 when Richard came to the Carolina's. Hotton's lists a
Henry Quintyne coming to the Carolinas that same year. Omitted Chapters of
Holton's also has a "Hennry" Quinton listed on a militia roster around the
same time.
I need to go back and check the dates on this one. My notes aren't clear.

Hi Gayl,
This is Kaye of the Lewis Quinton in Pickens County. I have been looking at
my old records and have a question. How old was Richard's son Henry when he
died?
Was he in the milita? I 'm exploring the possiblity that there have been a
cousin and brother of Richard named Henry who was living SC in the late
1600's. I do know there was a Henry in Barbados during this time.

Charlene,
Thank you for sending your Quinton family line. I will add it to my tree
information. If you have any more information on the wagon train I would love
to have it.
There is quit a bit of misinformation on this Quinton line out there and you
have understandably picked it up. My feeling is that the only way to get this
misinformation corrected is for the few people who are doing research on the
line to stay in touch and get the right information out. This is really the
only way we will ever fi
Henry Quintyne was a minor when his father Richard (Richard Henry
Quintyne) died. Richard's will was proved April 27, 1695. I'm guessing that
Henry was only in his late 20's when he died. To answer your question, Henry
was an important member of the South Carolina military. He was very wealthy
and owned thousands and thousands of acres which ended up in the Bull family
after his death.
Richard is said in several historical records to have been "of" Barbados and
was therefore part of the large Q
I can trace my family back to John Quinton 1767 to 1833 a bookbinder in Norwich. His son John b 1788 in St Margarets Norwich, was librarian for the City, and both were Freemen of the City of Norwich.
In my research I have come across another long line of Quintons that can be traced back to Benjamin Quinton b in Pottersgate, Norwich, in 1777.
I have been unable to find a connection between these two branches and would apreciate any help that anyone could give me.
I have posted a Gedcom file called 'norwi
