I have some baptismal records for Quirk families from the Catholic parish of Dunkerrin (formerly Moneygall and Barna) in County Offaly. The parish also covered one civil parish in Tipperary - Rathnaveoge. The years covered in these records are from 1820 to 1841. The couples whose children were baptized were: Michael Quirk and Ellen Birmingham Thomas Quirk and Catherine Meagher(Maher) Patrick Quirk and Margaret Meagher John Quirk and Margaret Deane Andrew Quirk and Margaret Quirk John Quirk and Mary Pow
3. Elizabeth Quirk Murray UK/Australia/New Zealand [1]
I was wondering if anybody has come across this lady. My g.g.grandmother Martha Margaret Davis, born 1810 in Workington married John Barwise. When he died in 1844 she married John Quirk of Workington in 1848. Elizabeth was born about 1848 (judging by her death certificate) though I can find no trace of it. Elizabeth married Thomas Murray about 1873 in Workington, and they seem to have emigrated to New Zealand in 1875, then later Sydney Australia, then back to New Zealand. I am interested to know more of bot

Hi Ev, I am not sure if this John Quirk is a relative or not, as I don't have any information on my g.g.g. grandfather other than what I had previously posted that being that the three brothers came to Canada and eventually split up. I am hoping that your John Quirk may be one of those brothers....If I get anything on this I will let you know...thanks for the information.....Joe Quirk

8. Re: [QUIRK] forenames [1]
Hello, I have a Mary Quirk from Ireland but I don't know where. She married John Freeman, in Ireland, I think. My gg grandfather John Conrad Freeman (Mary and Johns' son) was allegedly born in Clontubbrid-Lisdowney (is this possible? I think they are in 2 different parishes. All the family records noted it as cloutubrid-lisdowney), Kilkenny, Ireland (in 1834) He immigrated to the US and ended up in California, Mary lived in Calif for a while but after she died, her daughters moved her body to Waterbu

12. [QUIRK] General [1]
My Quirks / Condons came from Mocollop, Co. Waterford and settled in Watertown, MA, USA. The only given name from the list that doesn't appear in my line is Cornelius. The others, John, James, Thomas, Hannah, Elizabeth, Ellen, Julia seem to run through the Quirk Tree regardless of where they originate. If anyone has any Mocollop connections, it would be great to hear about. David Collins Hudson, MA, USA

Thanks:( Probably not related then. Mine settled in Wisconsin. They came via Canada as far as I know. He was born about 1827 in Ireland. There is family lore that he came from Devonshire but I find no such place in Ireland (only a Devon in England) And everything else I have says he was from Ireland. Happy Hunting! Brian

Hi Joe; I have been looking for a John Quirk from Nova Scotia and found a certain John Quirk listed in a cemetery in Bridgetown -Annapolis County Nova Scotia (Riverside). According to the on line record it states on his stone that he came from the Isle of Man. He was born in 1782 and died in 1853. If he came to Canada when he was about 20 it would have been in 1802. He was married to #Elizabeth ? and # 2 Phebe. He also had a son named john who was born in 1824 and died in Bridgetown i
