3. [RAGAN-ROOTS] Legal age /Tax List [1]
Question to everyone How old did the white male have to be if he is listed on a Tax List? Those listed on the 1766 Bute NC Tax such as Charles, James, Jesse, Joseph, John, Peter, & Powell, are they at least age 18 or 21?
4. Re: [RAGAN-ROOTS] Wm Powell Riggin d. 1770 [1]
The family of william David is derived from research by a charles Elmer Werner. He is not online. He entered this family in the LDS family tree records in the days prior to wide use of the internet. He more or less mushed this family together by identifying individuals born the the appropriate time frame and geographical locations to be chidren of a william in the 1790 bute county census and a william located in pendleton county, SC (location of Powell Riggins d. 1845). This william sold land in Pendl
5. Re: [RAGAN-ROOTS] Wm Davidl(Powel) Riggin d. ca. 1820 KY [1]
The person that wrote it was Wm Powel himself...yes on the Indian...I just read this as I was going through files...BTW did you ever talk to Jerry xxxx ( I forget) he descended from a Rigan and a Cherokee named Fanny Vann... Fanny, daughter of chief Joseph, has a oh hoot, what do you call that number...Dawes...that's it, fanny has a Dawes #...... he, Jerry, died , but I have his database. His cousin did the line until a nepgew "helped her" so that her entire database of 25,000 folk were lost. She no longer

8. [RAGAN-ROOTS] Chowan NC [1]
I see that our part of Rootsweb must be getting an overhaul today. The newsletter said it would be off in bits and pieces. I just wanted to say that the new NC genealogy review was in my library and I copied the entire 1720 Chowan Co landowners list. None of our "r" s are there, I can look for other names. I cannot copy it to our notes due to copyright. A John Rasberry is there and I can prove he's mine.whoooeee!. John is my who knows how far back grandfather. He married a Bridget Brown. M'ellen

Brenda, I have that a John Jr is the father of Jason, Owen & Jesse. And since he is a "Jr" his father was likely John Sr of Orange/Caswell NC. Howver, I dont believe they are the John & John Jr of Somerset MD as John Jr had a son Nathan b. 1749. Both John Sr & Jr died in MD, so they cannot be the Johns of NC. I believe there was another Nathaniel & faher John Jr, but not of Somerset MD. -----Original Message----- From: Brenda Sent: Friday, September 14, 2007 7:10 PM To: ragan-roots@rootsweb.com Subject: R

18. [RAGAN-ROOTS] Charles Ragan/Riggins [1]
In regards to "Charles & Son" Riggan of 1766 Bute NC, this Charles had to have been born by 1725-1729 to have a son old enough to be added to Tax list. I question if this Charles is anyway conected to the Stafford VA Ragans possibly 3rd Gen from 1st Gen James & Joan O'Ragan? In 1771 Bute there is Charles Riggin Sr & Chales Riggin Jr. I question if it is this Charles Riggin (Jr) is the Charles who md Zillah LINDSEY in 1774. in Bute NC? I find in 18 Nov 1726 Charles/Stafford VA that an Elijah WOOD of Staffo

Hello, all you Ragans, Reagans, Riggens, etc. I've been a subscriber to Ragan-Roots since way back when Michael was taking care of it and am glad to see all the activity on the site again. However, I still haven't found anyone who knows anything about my branch of the family, who came to Michigan via Ontario, Canada. As I recall, Michael had some Michigan connections, but he didn't have anything on them either. In a nutshell, here's what I have: Edman Ragan, b Ontario, Ca ca 1800, m Mary Able, dau of L

Joseph Senior married Elizabeth Gadd. She is claimed as the granddaughter of Thomas Gadd, the one time military defender of Jamestown. In 1722 (?) Thomas was off site with troops when Opanancanough tried to wipe out the colony. He returned in time to salvage the remnants of the English group. There is an early census taken of the left bank settlement forget date, but Thomas and an Elizabeth ( presumably his wife, are listed in it amongst all the Swedes. Ergo, it must be later than 1638.
