Hi,
Does anyone know anything about the name Elon?
There is an Elon College in Alamance Co., NC (Cut from Orange Co. in 1849).
Who was its namesake?
The name appears to be a given name -- never a surname. There was also an Elon
Baptist Church in Darlington, SC. According to one website, the name means
"God loves me." Could it have been associated with a particular religious
group?
The only reference to Elon that I have found in the Bible is Elon the Hittite,
father-in-law of Esau; a son of Zebulon sent

Today I merged my uncle's database of his ancestors into my own database
and discovered to my surprise that he had a Ragsdale cousin. I have built
a large database of my own Ragsdale cousins/aunts/uncles/grandparents from
everywhere on the net and would like to connect this cousin to the main
Ragsdale family with the rest of them.

I have just discovered this list, and I hope someone can help me with
information about my Ragsdale ancestor. Jordan Ragsdale, according to
census records, was born in Tennessee and lived for a brief time in
Missouri in the early 1840's before settling down in Obion County,
Tennessee. He married Lucinda Lancaster of Hickman County, Tennessee,
while his brother, William who followed a similar migration path,
married her sister, Annie. I have found Jordan on a tax list in
Williamson County, TN, in 1833 and

Hi,
In going through old records, I found a brother of one of may ancestors, James
K.P. Smith. I ran across the name James K.P. Graves a few weeks later. I
wondered if there was a relationship between the families. Since that time, I
have run across the given name James K.P. at least a dozen times in a half a
dozen different places -- Missouri, Arkansas, Indiana, etc. Does anyone know
what the K.P stands for? or who these people are named after?
Thanks,
Chris Ragsdale
