Hi Diana, How astute of you. I know of no one who has made the positive connection of Joseph Rasey (my gr-gr-gr-grandfather) to Malcolm MacLeod. The entry of the MacLeod of Raasay in AMERICA HERALDICA (AH) appears to be the work of Rev. Charles E. S. Rasay, 10 July 1855- 6 Feb 1937. On the Glossary page of AH there is acknowledgment to C.E.S. Rasay for his assistance on the Glossary. Coincidence? When the Reverend died in Richfield Springs, NY, he did not stipulate where his papers, etc. were to be placed;

Hello Jim, As you replied on the list, not the board, I did miss your message, so thank you for forwarding it to me. But now I've joined the list, so no more problem. I should have thought to join the list the moment I made the RASEY connection -- or think I've made it. That's another issue. But now I'm in an awkward position because while I'm new to studying RASEY, I'm not new to genealogy. You'll have to forgive me, but on the face of it, Rev. Rasey's assertions appear to me to be your classic roma
