Hello Heather
You are doing a great job with the 1861 census and I have been a bit slow to
react to your information
The first to spring to mind is entry
3/7 Mill Wynd and George Redpath lodger, unmarried, a.29, Porter, born
Eccles as he looks very much like the eldest son of John Redpath and Jane
Wright who married in 1832 at Coldstream. George witnessed his father Johns
death cert. in 1862 and gave an address as 18 Clayton Street ,Newcastle on
Tyne which turns out to be the Clock Inn and Alexandra Hotel.
Hello everyone! I'm trying to trace the birth of John Redpath born about 1817 in the Kirknewton area of Northumberland, England. He was a farm steward, married Mary Southern and died in 1905 at Marley Hill, CO.Durham. His eldest son, also John, born in 1845, emigrated to USA in 1867 and founded the Union Iron Works in McAlester, Oklahoma. I would love to hear from any Redpath "cousins" in USA. There must be many of you as he had a large family. Surely one of you reads these messages! I am descended from

Heather,
I would like to thank you for all the work you are doing extracting the
Redpath surname from the census. So far, I have not been able to connect my
Redpath line to any of them. But, just knowing that the work is being done
and will be there for the future is a great help to us all.
Once again, thank you.
