1. [REEB-ROOTS-L] Genealogical Standards American & International [1]
My apologies for any confusion I may have caused. Yesterday I posted the following however due to some unknown reason the message did not get sent. The below is the content of that message with corrections, I hope. During the earlier years of my genealogical searching I was told by professional genealogists and historians that there are certain standards that are recognized and used by the best genealogists in Europe and America. I learned that these standards are necessary to avoid confusion and/or mis
2. [REEB-ROOTS-L] Correction [1]
Perhaps I should have edited my e-mail before sending. When I wrote the following: "When a son was simply given the single name, which in English we would call "John" his name would not be written as Johannes not simply Johann. So if you saw the name spelled Johannes it generally indicated that was both the baptismal name and the calling name." Instead of writing woud not as underlined above I should have wrote "would" not would not. John V. Reeb
3. Re: [REEB-ROOTS-L] Who is Otto Reeb [1]
Not sure this will help but will send just in case. One of two computers is tempory down but in one which is working I do show some entries for total of 5 different Otto Reebs two who are now deceased and three who may or may not be. They are: Otto Reeb, born 26 April 1868, Franklin County, Ohio died 30 June 1934, and buried Mifflin Township Cemetery, Franklin County, Ohio. This is in the area of Columbus, Ohio. (documentation for this is good). Otto Reeb, born 7 June 1876 in Hangard, Germany. (documen

5. [REEB-ROOTS-L] Who is Otto Reeb [1]
Hi! Browsing the German National Bibliography I saw an entry for "Otto Reeb, German attorney, 20th century". Currently I know about two German attorneys of the last century with the name of Reeb (one of them is me :-), so I got curious. But -strange enough- there is no publication mentioned. There are two sites on the web mentioning letters by Otto Reeb, one of them in French. Does anyboy know about this man? Werne Reeb
6. Reeb-Roots Merry Christmas [1]
We wish to extent our wishes for each of you to have a blessed & joyous Christmas and a very happy New Year 2009. Our year has been a challenging one, but we have grown deeper in our faith and closer to our Lord. Stan & Jacob are doing well. Jeanne [my sister] has finished her 6 rounds of chemotherapy for ovarian cancer; she has a PET scan Dec. 22nd. Should any of you wish to see a photo of our family, please just send a request to sgferris@clarkswb.net as I am currently so far behind on 'stuff'. :) Bu
7. Reeb-Roots Belleville Illinois Reebs [1]
Holiday greetings to all the Reeb family researchers I recently began helping a friend to research her Reeb line (in the hope we would be related - but I find that isn't true. I'm a Zutzendorf Reeb and this appears to be a separate family.) I am certainly willing to search through the mountains of information on this list and elsewhere, I was hoping that someone could provide her with the family. It appears there is extensive interest in the Belleville Reebs. Perhaps there is someone out there in the

Thanks Diann, that is interesting because I am told this Catherine Rape was born in Salisbury, Rowan County, NC! Maybe there will be a connection when I learn more about her. 12. Re: Reeb-Roots Was someone asking about my name??? [1]
Aileen, I, by mistake answered a March 7, E-Mail. Are whole neighborhood was out of electricity and I was on the computer at the time. When I finally go my computer back up, many old messages were on my screen. One of them was from Reeb-Roots, so I answered. Then I looked at the date and it said March 7. I had dozens of old messages that I had to delete. I guess the ones I hadn't read just all popped up. I do not pretend to know how electricity and computers work. They puzzle me. Just thought

Hi Aileen, Sorry but I have no records of this Catherine Rape. The Beaver name is familiar from my Dillow side of the family who migrated from Salisbury NC to Southern IL. If I run into anything I will let you know. By the way what was your source for this information. I am always looking for Catherine's. 17. Re: Reeb-Roots Help? [1]
Aileen I know this isn't what you asked but all I could find. Here is a Daniel Beaver who married Matilda Rape dau of Jacob Rape and Elizabeth. I have no data on a Catherine who married Daniel Beaver. I don't know if there is any connection with this family or not. Perhaps someone else will know. (This data originated in 2004 from John V.) I too wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. We are off to the coast to celebrate our grandson's 4th birthday and do a bit of kite flying. Shannon Descenda
18. Re: Reeb-Roots Help? [1]
Thanks for checking Shannon, I have that same data; I received it from John V. Reeb as well. I no longer have his files in my computer so I can not check to see if he had anything on her either. Have a grand time with that grand son. Cheyenne will be seven on July 7th we are having her birthday party at a horse farm. After this year we are done with the big them parties, they are getting out of hand with cost. Enjoy and be safe. Aileen ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shannon Conder"

20. Reeb-Roots Help? [1]
Does anyone know who Catherine Rape born 1768 in Mecklenburg County, NC was? As most of you know this is most likely present day Union County, NC. Who were her parents? She married in June 1786 to Daniel Beaver born 1765 in Mecklenburg County, NC. Two of their children were Nancy born 1812 in Lancaster District, SC and Daniel born 1800 in Lancaster District, SC. The state line for North and South Carolina come together between Lancaster County, SC and Union County, NC so the two areas could have been very

Honey I am the same way. My husband is a computer guru but I am not. I depend on his all the time. I am glad you got your computer back up and running. I guess you have not been doing any research lately either; of course you could go to a library. I am so dependent upon my Ancestry.com and other on line tools that I would be lost. Yet, just thirteen years ago all my research was on hard copy, in a dozen notebooks in boxes. Then I met my soon to be husband at a class reunion and fell in love, we marri
